He distributed a
drawing showing the area and the portion of the road that is excess right-of-way. Alda
Road was a county road until the interstate was opened in 1958 they put a small curve
in there and then in 1992 they made the curve flatter. Now there is some old Alda Road
that is excess ground. This resolution will start a study to consider the use of the road.
Steve stated that you need to look at the impact to the adjacent property owners. This
is the first step then there will be a public hearing and then the board can decide what to
do.
Steve stated has talked to Dave and Marlene Wengler and their concern it that this will
move on to the next step to address closing the road. Steve stated that he allows 4
weeks to do the study then it come back for the public hearing and then by the middle of
March it should be addressed.
Marlene Wenger stated they own a trucking company and they want to put up another
building. They need the 66 feet to provide them a way to get the truck in and out of the
property.
Quandt asked if there is a cost for the study. Steve stated this will be done in house
and there could possibly include some survey costs and he has talked to Scott Peters
and the survey cost would be in house. He said this should be fairly quick.
Bredthauer made a motion and Sorenson seconded to approve the Resolution #21-001
to directing the Highway Superintendent to do a study of 70th Road and the Alda curve
north of Schultz Road and bring it back to the County Board.
