Mr. Riehle is working on the design for Homestead and will be sending letters to the
homeowners. It was noted that there is the $25,000.00 keno dollars. This and the
Doniphan project are 2 of Dick's projects and he hope to get it done inn 5 weeks.
Bredthauer stated they have some project completed. They have cut some trees and
are also killing the stumps to prevent regrowth. There ae ditches that need to be
cleaned out and some farmer have come forward to do this but they will also have to
dispose of the dirt.
Steve stated that they took care of a landslide and are putting up snow fences but are
still waiting for some farmers to finish their fields and when they do they will complete
putting up the snow fence. He stated they have completed the patching for this year
and will start the crack sealing.
They are looking at the miscellaneous equipment for future purchases and assessing
their current equipment. They may look at a shredder. They are also looking at the big
equipment and have had discussion trading in the grade-all and also the cranes. They
are assessing the equipment and tools that will make things better. He also stated that
the zipper has done its job and it has been sitting for 2 years. The diesel hammer was
used to build bridges but they may consider looking at contracting the bridge work.
Bredthauer stated they are looking for the most efficient way to address bridges.
Quandt questioned the culverts on Abbot Road and the railroad culverts. Steve stated
he has sent a letter with no response and suggested a letter from the County Board.
FACILITIES — Mr. Humphrey returned with the bids for the fire suppression system for
the Courthouse and the third floor egress. He recommend awarding the bid for the fire
suppression to Mid Plains Construction in the amount of$648,000 and the bid for the
third floor exiting to Lacy Construction in the amount of$287,500.00. The architect
would like to work with 1 contractor but these are 2 separate project and Mid Plains will
wait until the egress is completed and then they would come in and do the fire
suppression. They will do one project at a time.
Quandt noted that this could be a good winter project to do the fire suppression it would
also depend on the court schedule.
Richardson stated that the 45 days would still be in January.
Quandt made a motion and Bredthauer seconded to award the bid for the fire
suppression to Mid Plains Construction for $648,000.00 and the bid for the third floor
exiting to Lacy Construction for $287,500.00. These were the low bids. Bredthauer,
Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt, and Richardson all voted yes, Peterson was absent and no
one voted no. Motion carried.
6
