C) PUBLIC WORKS UPDATE — Mr. Riehle reported that they had 105 tons of used tires and he <br /> is asking for 200 tons next year. They had had tires at the Alda pit that they disposed of. This <br /> is a successful program. <br /> He reported that they are patching asphalt road and working on replacing a culvert on Nine <br /> Bridge Road the culvert failed so it is down to one lane and they hope to have one in stock to <br /> replace it. They are putting crushed concrete on some roads and doing mowing and <br /> maintenance. He said there is a safety meeting tomorrow. He is also working on the bid <br /> specifications for the door project and are looking at sliding doors and also the rollup rubber <br /> doors. They are looking at the shop floor also. <br /> He met with the HOA from Homestead and they surveyed the east ditch there is a problem and <br /> they will do a ditch project and need to replace the culvert. There was an issue at the rail road <br /> crossing on 13th street and he called KRS and they were there on Thursday ad did the repair <br /> work and it was an improvement. <br /> There is to be a Wood River flood control project that will help Wood River, Alda, Gibbon and <br /> Kearney. <br /> Quandt noted that Mr. Garrison expressed concern that 13th Street is the only open intersection <br /> and discussion if there could be a 4 way stop at Stolley Park and Engleman. Steve stated he <br /> would look at this and bring it back to the board. <br /> Hartman stated this is an emergency and needs to be addressed. Steve stated that he would <br /> need to do a traffic engineering study. Lancaster ask if he could do this and bring it back to the <br /> board. Discussion was held to address it on the special meeting on August 25, 2020 <br /> Lancaster said that Jason Hornady appreciated Steve taking care of the roads but did <br /> expressed concern on the railroad crossings. <br /> 20 APPROVE REGULAR CLAIMS — Discussion was held Sarah Carstensen explained that on <br /> claim #20080233 to Mr. Jaeger. There was an issue when the City of Grand Island needed a <br /> defense attorney so he was appointed by the court. We should not have to pay when the city <br /> files a case. Mr. Piccolo and Sarah recommended to deny this claim. <br /> Peterson made a motion and Bredthauer seconded to approve the regular claims and to deny <br /> claim #20080233. Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt, Peterson and Richardson <br /> all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 13. COUNTY TREASURER - DISCUSS & APPROVE RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE <br /> COUNTY TREASURER TO STRIKE ONLY THE UNCOLLECTABLE DELINQUENT 2017 <br /> PERSONAL TAXES AND ANY ACCELERATE 2018 REAL & PERSONAL PROPERTY TAXES <br /> FROM THE TAX LIST—County Treasurer Alain Verplank was present and stated that these are <br /> distress warrants and the County Sheriff was unable to collect the taxes so they are to be <br /> stricken off of the books. <br /> Peterson made a motion and Hurst seconded to approve Resolution #20-158 To authorize the <br /> County Treasurer to strike only the uncollectible delinquent 2017 personal taxes and any <br /> 6 <br />
