3 PUBLIC PARTICIPATION-THE COMMISSIONERS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TAKE <br /> ACTION ON NON-AGENDA ITEMS.-Dave Niemoth and Larry Mulligan both from Amick <br /> Acres was at meeting and asked to talk to the Commissioners. They stated that they <br /> had done some work on some culvers and ditches in area to help with flooding, but that <br /> the work they had done does not completely work until the County cleans out some <br /> ditches and widens one, and puts another culvert in. They were concerned because <br /> they thought this was supposed to have been done. Over the weekend it had rained a <br /> lot and they had put a pump in the ditch and it took 12 hours to drain. They stated that <br /> there is a gas line where the culvert was supposed to be put in at and wasn't sure if that <br /> was the hold up or what. They stated that people in Amick Acres are not very happy and <br /> are complaining to the home owners association. <br /> Quandt and Lancaster questioned why this had not been done and what the problem <br /> was <br /> Steve Riehle stated he had called the gas company a few months back, but that he <br /> needed to touch base with them, he stated he would get to working on culvert and ditch <br /> projects and make this number one priority. <br /> Larry Mulligan stated it would be best if they cleaned and widen the ditch all at the same <br /> time. <br /> Hartman stated he would keep an eye on the project and make sure it got done <br /> 5 D COUNTY ATTORNEY-DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION APPROVING HIRING <br /> AN ATTORNEY & HEARING OFFICER FOR CORRECTIONS GRIEVANCE <br /> 5 E COUNTY ATTORNEY-DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION APPROVING HIRING <br /> AN ATTORNEY & HEARING OFFICER FOR PUBLIC WORKS/ROADS GRIEVANCE <br /> Sarah Carstensen spoke on both grievances and asked the Commissioners to accept <br /> them and set them both for hearing. She stated she is asking the Commissioners to <br /> approve hiring an attorney and a hearing officer for each of the grievances, she stated <br /> that after talking to the department heads they had stated that they both need some <br /> guidance from Carstensen herself to be able to talk through those situations, she stated <br /> it would not be appropriate for her to be both their advisor and hearing officer. She <br /> stated that Corrections does not involve a union but that the Road grievance did involve <br /> a union. <br /> Quandt made a motion to approve the possible hiring of an Attorney and a hearing <br /> officer for the Corrections Grievance, Bredthauer seconded the motion.
