Mr. Riehle will look at other <br /> options. <br /> FACILITIES G) FRED HOTZ REGARDING FIRE SUPRESSION AT COURTHOUSE — Mr. <br /> Humphrey noted that the board has some quests and ask that Mr. Hotz would address them. <br /> Peterson questioned why it was changed that the county would need both the egress and fire <br /> suppression systems. <br /> Mr. Hotz expressed concern that this was a misunderstanding for him the entire safety of the <br /> building considering the number of people on the third floor they would need the egress and the <br /> fire suppression. He stated that Craig Lewis did a building analysis and the analysis came back <br /> negative so they would need both systems. <br /> Lancaster noted there was concern on the outside egress because of inmates would be in <br /> shackles so the sprinkler system would offer the most safety. <br /> Mr. Hotz stated you cannot separate the two a sprinkler system would be an improvement but it <br /> would not go far enough. <br /> Lancaster noted that the county cannot address it all at once but the egress would be less <br /> expensive. She thanked him for coming. <br /> 8. DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING PROBLEM RAILROAD CROSSINGS <br /> (NORTH ROAD/HWY 2, BURLINGTON NORTHERN & CAPITAL AVE., 7T" STREET, 4TH <br /> STREET CENTRAL NE RAILROAD - Quandt noted that he has been working with the Sheriff <br /> and has been trying to work with the railroad but now there are more trains and some crossing <br /> are blocked all the time. They questioned stopping the bells but then it could become a county <br /> responsibility. They have waited 9 months and no resolution. He has tried to call Mr. Williams <br /> but has not heard back. The also noted the trains are blocking the crossing to Lincoln School. <br /> Shaun Shepardson was present and played a recording of the sound of the bells that are <br /> constantly ringing. She questioned if there was a noise nuisance ordinance. She also <br /> addressed the issue of the noise from the engines running they shake the house. <br /> Quandt noted that there are 2 ways to address this they could request a hearings but he is not <br /> sure where they would be held. <br /> Lancaster ask if the board supports moving forward to determine the options. <br /> Hurst stated he was at the meetings and these problems are everywhere we cannot enforce it <br /> but maybe the public service commission could. He even noted that when the bell was knocked <br /> off it was still ringing. <br /> Hartman stated it will be tough the railroad is bigger and they do not care. <br /> Quandt made a motion and Bredthauer seconded for the County Board to contact the Public <br /> Service Commission regarding the North Road and Highway 2, Capital Avenue 4th street, 7' <br /> Street crossing regarding Central Nebraska Railroad and look at the options to assist with the <br /> 4 <br />
