6. BUILDING INSPECTOR UPDATE-Al Pickrel gave update on what he does as Hall County <br /> Building Inspector, Lancaster stated the Hall County Board studied for a year on reinstating <br /> Building Inspector to see the need of a Building Inspector ,she stated the rural community <br /> believes in the process and they contribute toward the budget it has been very good thing to do <br /> and been a good relationship. Al Pickrel presented all new codes that have been adopted as <br /> none were in existence before. Slide show presented shown new construction of homes, <br /> storage sheds, garages, businesses and storage units across Hall County in Grand Island, <br /> Cairo, Wood River, Alda and Doniphan. Al stated Jodi Moore his secretary added up value of <br /> permits and it was 46 million and some these are all new builds not remodeling, that is for two <br /> years worth. Lancaster stated Jodi Moore does a lot as well and secretary for both Building <br /> Inspector and Weed department, she also stated the 46 million broadens the base so we don't <br /> have to raise levies it has been successful thru the permits provided for this department, she <br /> also stated she appreciated their hard work and for being so knowledgeable and thanked him <br /> for his presentation. <br /> 5. PUBLIC HEARING SMART SOIL LLC ANDREW WOITASZEWSKI COMPOSTING <br /> FACILITY Quandt made a motion to open the public hearing and Hartman seconded the motion. <br /> Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt, Peterson all voted yes, Richardson was <br /> absent. Motion carried to go into Public Hearing. <br /> Loren Humphrey- stated that Andrew Woitaszewski came in for a conditional use permit for <br /> composting/recycling in hall county and that he had been looking for sight and found one, he <br /> stated that he spoke with Eric Wiese from the DEQ (department of environmental quality) and <br /> that Eric spoke highly of the facility and was in support because growing businesses across the <br /> US and Nebraska support it because beef is leading industry. <br /> Quandt asked if a letter had been sent out to everyone in area? He said he got a phone call <br /> from a gentleman and he said he was 1 mile outside the radiance and did not get a letter. <br /> Humphrey replied that everyone did get a letter within the 1 mile radiance of this <br /> Lancaster first asked for all that were pro the composting facility to come forward at this time. <br /> Andrew Woitaszewski <br /> 7337 W. He said first steps make sure we get <br /> proper with DEQ is to contain waste water run-off. , levels will be checked, and strictly <br /> monitored; DEQ monitors reports and ponds and what materials go in the area. <br /> 2 <br />
