DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING BUDGET SALARY FOR ELECTED OFFICIALS DEPUTIES SALARIES A PERCENTAGE OF THE ELECTED OFFICIAL - County Clerk Marla Conley stated that during budget work it was realized that the Clerk of the District Court Deputy and the County Clerk's Deputy's salaries dropped below the statutory requirement of 65% of the elected official's salary. When the 2015 classification study was competed the deputies received an 11% increase for the 3 years then were to receive the cola increase. This did not keep them at the 65%. So it was discussed at the classification committee meeting and then brought to the county board, the County Board sets the salaries. Valorie Bendixen stated that in 2010 all of the deputies were receive 70% of the elected official's salary. She feels it should be the same for all 4 deputies. Lancaster stated she contacted NACO and they only noted the minimum 65%. The County Board has the right to set the salary. Discussion was held and the board agreed that they should be all set at the same percentage rate. The board has some options. The County Assessor has a combined office so her salary is set higher. Peterson if do at a percentage of the elected official then there is no cola increase as the officials get an increase. Hartman made a motion and Richardson raise the salary to the level of the highest percentage of the deputies have to make them all the same percentage rate.
