Held a Board of Equalization meeting <br /> 9:27 a.m. Adjourned the Board of Equalization meeting and returned to the regular meeting. <br /> PUBLIC PARTICIPATION — Chair Lancaster called for public participation and Matt McGuire <br /> requested to address the County Board <br /> Matt McGuire, 15346 West Barrow Road, Kenesaw, Nebraska noted the following. <br /> • Felt the county had a good response to the flood damage <br /> • Expressed concern on safety on some of the gravel roads they are in bad shape <br /> • Appreciates that the county honors the veterans <br /> • Noted that the UP Railroad had to redo some tracks by Prosser <br /> • Questioned if the county applies for disaster funds <br /> • Expressed concern on the tariffs and the corn prices <br /> • Expressed concern that the legislature is trying to impose sales tax on mowing lawns <br /> just need to raise the sales tax in general <br /> • Stated need more maintenance on the roads <br /> • People take rural agriculture for granted <br /> • Thanked the rural fire department because of his health conditions <br /> • Concern on rural crime regarding steeling irrigation pipe he called the FBI and it is not in <br /> their jurisdiction <br /> Hartman stated that the county is working on the roads as fast as they can. He also expressed <br /> concern on agricultural issues. <br /> Bredthauer stated that the county has $55,000.00 more in gravel and they will be considering <br /> more gravel today. They are trying to get the gravel on the roads. <br /> B) DISCUSSION & CONSIDERATION OF AWARDING BIDS FOR 2 COMPACT TRACK <br /> LOADERS Steve Riehle handed out a spread sheet with all of the bid information and the <br /> options from the bid opening for the track loaders. He reviewed all of the information regarding <br /> the bids, the options and the rental options. The low base bid was from Bobcat at $57,931 but <br /> there could be the options added. This machine did not meet the specifications it was close. <br /> Hartman noted that the Bobcat was below the required bid specifications for the pressure. . <br /> Lancaster stated that the bidders present could have an opportunity to speak. <br /> Central Nebraska Bobcat Rick Craft stated he reviewed specifications on the attachments and <br /> there are 2 areas that they are short but the attachment will run fine. <br /> Murphy Tractor Jack stated that the John Deere met all of the specifications. <br /> Lancaster ask if anyone else wanted to address the board and no one else came forward. <br /> Mr. Riehle stated the tried to make sure the specifications did not allow them to bid a bigger <br /> piece of equipment. He noted the amount of horse power that was required on the attachments. <br /> That is how the spec were written. <br /> 4 <br />
