Quandt suggested meeting with the Sheriff to determine the type of glass and come back with a <br /> recommendation. <br /> Mr. Humphrey stated that the security system with the key fobs has been installed and they <br /> could add this security feature to the doors. <br /> D) DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING REQUEST FROM COUNTY COURT TO <br /> PURCHASE 8 CHAIRS FOR COUNTY COURT ROOMS - County Court is requesting to <br /> replace the eight chairs for the plaintiff and defense tables in the two courtrooms. One of the <br /> chairs broke causing an attorney to fall backwards. The total cost of the chairs would be <br /> $1,672.00 <br /> Richardson made a motion and Bredthauer seconded to purchase the8 chairs for the court <br /> rooms. Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt and Richardson all voted yes and none <br /> voted no. Motion carried. <br /> Peterson suggested instead of storing the old chairs to sell them on an auction. <br /> Mr. Humphrey stated that the trees have been cut down in front of DHHS building and they <br /> need to set the bid opening for the DHHS sidewalk. The specifications are done. <br /> 26. DISCUSS & TAKE ACTION REGARDING THE REDEVELOPMENT OF THE GRAND <br /> ISLAND VETERAN'S HOME CAMPUS Quandt stated that there are 2 people that requested <br /> to address this issue Wendell Roscoe with Friendship House stated that they are 95% full and <br /> are looking for room for expansion. They recently applied for a grant and hope to find out if they <br /> are approved. They are a nonprofit organization and are interested in the Soldiers and Sailors <br /> Home for expansion. <br /> The board agreed to send a letter of interest regarding the Veterans campus. Lancaster noted <br /> that they met with the City Administrator and the City does not have possession of the buildings <br /> so they were referred to DHHS and to the Veterans Affairs. There are still a lot of questions on <br /> this process. <br /> Quandt thanked them for coming the veterans did not have any choice in this and there are <br /> veterans that are interested in the property. <br /> Bill Schlachter 1814 Freedom Drive stated that he is the chair of the Friendship House board <br /> and they are in need of expansion and they would like to be considered. <br /> 25. EXECUTIVE SESSION - REGARDING ACQUIRING REAL ESTATE — Quandt made a <br /> motion and Bredthauer seconded to go into executive session regarding acquiring real estate. <br /> This executive session is to protect the public interest. Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster, <br /> Quandt, Peterson and Richardson all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 11:55 a.m. executive session <br /> 12:36 a.m. Quandt made a motion and Bredthauer seconded to go out of executive session. No <br /> other subjects were discussed no votes were taken and no action was taken. Bredthauer, <br /> Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt, and Peterson all voted yes and none voted no.
