12 DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CHAIR TO SIGN THE
SUBCONTRACT AGREEMENT WITH SENIOR CITIZENS INDUSTRIES AND HALL COUNTY
AND APPROVE RESOLUTION - this is the agreement with Senior Citizens. Theresa stated
she wanted to update the board regarding the Wood Driver Senior Center. The City owns the
center and it was flooded. They were able to continue the food program and had to move the
food to another location and also delivered the meals. The city cleaned up the water replaced
the furnace and the water heater and it is now ready to open back up. Theresa stated they did
an excellent job.
Hartman made a motion and Quandt seconded to approve Resolution #19-040 and authorize
the chair to sign the agreement. Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt, Peterson and
Richardson all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried.
Richardson questioned what activities they use for fund raising. Theresa stated they have cook
outs that are ran by the seniors and pancake feeds. The fund raisers are usually centered
around food. She stated that at one point they had a fund raiser every month. The funds are
used for new equipment, table and chairs. She also stated that they signed a new agreement
because when this change occurred they were not sure where they would be with the funding.
She also thanked the board for the additional $40, 0000.00 that was budgeted. They requested
an additional $15,000.00 and that has been a blessing to cover the additional expenses this
winter. She also stated that bingo is a fund raiser and sometimes there are additional
donations. They also rent space in the building for different groups that use it. SHIP also has
an office there and she pays some rent. This winter the home delivered meals increased but
now people are starting to come back to the center. She noted that the average age of people
attending is 85.
8
