Hartman stated to put it in as a box ad so it can be seen. Conley stated this only has to be
advertised 1 time 10 days prior to the bid opening. Lancaster noted box ads are expensive.
Peterson questioned if advertising is the most effective way to reach people. How many people
pay attention to the ads in the paper? He questioned if it would be feasible to send letters to the
neighbors. Discussion was held to send letters to the people who bid the last time.
Steve Riehle noted that when the Department of Roads advertises for public hearings, they
struggle sending out letters to individuals. It is a problem if you miss some one. The board
agreed to send letters to the previous bidders. Steve will provide that information to the County
Clerk.
6. DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING RESOLUTION FOR SURPLUS ITEMS
AT WEED CONTROL AUTHORITY—Weed Superintendent Rob Schultz stated that the Weed
Control Authority Board met yesterday and he distributed a list of additional equipment that
could be declared surplus. Once this is completed he will contact Big Iron to have the items
listed for sale. Then the space will be ready July 1st to move.
Quandt questioned if he had checked with other departments regarding the equipment. Rob
stated that the Parks Department is interested in the 4 wheeler and the Dodge truck. They
could use the truck. It currently has spraying equipment on it.
Hartman stated he wants to see it sold and if there is a need for a truck they can get it later.
Quandt made a motion and Hartman seconded to declare the property as surplus and approve
Resolution #19-037 with the attached list of the surplus property. Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst,
Lancaster, Quandt, Peterson and Richardson all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried.
3
