also senior housing is also an issue. A good plan would be to combine the rooms and make <br /> apartments. Need to look at it and fill an existing need in the community. There a lot of ways <br /> veterans can be part of this. What is good for the future of our children and grandchildren? It <br /> does not all have to be housing there are many programs that could be house there. Someone <br /> has to figure out the funding could there be grants. Need to serve the needs of the veterans <br /> and also other seniors. <br /> Bredthauer noted the old Walnut School we need hosing and she thanked Ray. <br /> Hartman ask about the committee shouldn't that be the city what can the county do. <br /> Ray it would be good to see a combined effort. <br /> Lancaster noted the common area there is a need for a kitchen there are a lot of dollars that <br /> have been put in the buildings. It should belong to the community. <br /> Ray stated that there is a need for studio apartments not the larger 1100 sq. foot apartments. <br /> Lancaster noted the senior living facilities and there is a need. <br /> Quandt noted that the state is doing an RFP concern on the time frame. Ray stated there would <br /> need to be letters of intent for the use of the building not a plan. <br /> Don Shuda he would like to see the Anderson building used for a memory care unit the VA <br /> would pay 100% of their care he would like to see it used as a nursing home. <br /> Lancaster ask if anyone else wanted to address this issue. <br /> Jerry Hirshman, 2315 Gateway Avenue questioned why this should go to private people. Many <br /> Veterans have problems and we have the buildings to find programs to help them. In the past <br /> the land was farmed and the dollars went to the general fund it should go to the veterans home <br /> to defer expenses. He suggested using some of the area to train comfort dogs or a military park <br /> to honor the veterans. <br /> Lancaster stated these are good thoughts <br /> Quandt made a motion and Bredthauer seconded to authorize the Chair to meet with the Mayor <br /> Regarding the future of the veteran's home. Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster, Peterson <br /> Quandt and Richardson all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried <br /> 14. EXECUTIVE SESSION TO RECEIVE ADVICE FROM LEGAL COUNSEL ON PERSONNEL <br /> MATTER AND FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE PUBLIC'S INTEREST— Peterson made a <br /> motion and Richardson seconded to go into executive session. This executive session is to <br /> protect the public interest and to prevent needles harm or injury to an individual. Bredthauer, <br /> Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster, Peterson Quandt and Richardson all voted yes and none voted no. <br /> Motion carried <br /> 2:02 p.m. Executive session regarding personnel <br /> 2:23 p.m. went out of executive session regarding personnel <br /> 18.
