HALL COUNTY BOARD OF EQUALIZATION MEETING SEPTEMBER 18, 2018 <br /> 9: 20 a.m. Quandt made a motion and Lancaster seconded to go into a Board of <br /> Equalization meeting. <br /> ROLL CALL VOTE — Present on roll call vote were Karen Bredthauer, Pamela <br /> Lancaster, Douglas Lanfear, Gary Quandt, Jane Richardson and Steve Schuppan. <br /> Scott Arnold was absent due to illness. Also present was Alaina Verplank County <br /> Treasurer. <br /> NOTICE OF OPEN MEETING LAW— Chair Richardson read the notice of the open <br /> meeting law. <br /> VERIFY AFFIDAVIT OF PUBLICATION —The affidavit of publication was received. <br /> The affidavit of publication was received. <br /> MINUTES —Quandt made a motion and Lancaster seconded to approve the minutes of <br /> the September 4, 2018 meeting. Bredthauer, Lancaster, Lanfear, Quandt, Richardson <br /> and Schuppan all voted yes and none voted no. Arnold was absent. Motion carried. <br /> PUBLIC PARTICIPATION - Chair Richardson called for public participation and no one <br /> responded. <br /> 3. COUNTY ASSESSOR — HEARING ON PROTEST 18-1000 FOR PROFFITT FAMILY <br /> TRUST, 711 CUSTER AVENUE — County Assessor Kristi Wold stated that there was a <br /> discount on the land because of access. This discount was added in 2017. She <br /> removed the basement area and there was discussion at the 2018 Board of <br /> Equalization meeting regarding the discount on the land discussion was held and the <br /> discount was removed. <br /> Bredthauer stated the basement value was removed and the 20% discount on the land <br /> was removed to equalize it with the other properties. The third party appraiser also <br /> recommended removing the 20% land discount. <br /> Attorney Kevin Brostrom was present representing Proffitt Family Trust, Robert and <br /> Thais Proffitt. He presented information to the board members regarding the property at <br /> the 711 Custer Street address. He noted the various properties in the same area and <br /> the cost per square foot for the land. He stated that 2915 W Faidley and 3119 W <br /> Faidley are at $1.07 a square foot for the land value and subject property should be the <br /> same. He also noted that several of the other properties have better exposure to a busy <br /> street and also noted that the driveway for subject property is shared with other <br /> businesses. He expressed concern that there are a lot of discrepancies regarding these <br /> properties. He is requesting to be equalized with Tiffany Square property at $1.07 a <br /> square foot. <br />
