HALL COUNTY BOARD OF EQUALIZATION MEETING AUGUST 11, 2015 <br /> 9:05 a.m. Lancaster made a motion and Purdy seconded to go into a Board of Equalization <br /> meeting. <br /> ROLL CALL VOTE — Present on roll call vote were Scott Arnold, Pamela Lancaster, Doug <br /> Lanfear, Daniel Purdy, Gary Quandt, Jane Richardson and Steve Schuppan. Also present <br /> were County Assessor Jan Pelland and County Treasurer Peg Pesek and Board Assistant <br /> Stacey Ruzicka. <br /> NOTICE OF OPEN MEETING LAW—Chairman Arnold read the notice of the open meeting law. <br /> MINUTES — Purdy made a motion and Quandt seconded to approve the minutes of the July 28, <br /> 2015 meeting. Arnold, Lancaster, Lanfear, Purdy, Quandt, Richardson and Schuppan all voted <br /> yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> #4 PRESENTATION - Mr. Quandt stated that we appreciate the employees and their families. <br /> During the protest formal hearings Jan Pelland' s mother passed away and Barb Stoddard <br /> worked with the county board through the process even though she was going through cancer <br /> treatments. A few years ago they came up with this T shirt that says "Remission is Possible" <br /> and he recently lost a brother to cancer. He presented T shirts to Jan and Barb and all of the <br /> assessor's office staff were also present wearing the shirts. <br /> Jan stated that they wear Team Barb bracelets. She stated she has known Barb for 30 years <br /> and about 5 years ago she was looking for employment and she was lucky enough to hire her. <br /> Jan stated she was going to shave her head when Barb started losing her hair but Barb talked <br /> her out of it, so she cut it short. <br /> Arnold stated that this just isn't a job we are family and it is a good place to work. <br /> PUBLIC PARTICIPATION - Chairman Arnold called for public participation and no one <br /> responded. <br /> 1 COUNTY TREASURER —A) DISCUSS &APPROVE EXEMPTION APPLICATION FOR <br /> ORPHAN GRAIN TRAIN FOR A TRAILER &A TRUCK- County Treasurer Peg Pesek was <br /> present this is an application from Orphan Grain Train, 427 N. Shady Bend Road, Grand Island <br /> for a 2015 H & H Trailer and a 2006 GMC truck to be used for fund raising activities, shipping <br /> relief items and collecting donations of clothing, medical supplies and household goods. <br /> B) ST MARY'S CATHEDRAL/CATHEDRAL DAYCARE FOR A VAN — County Treasurer Peg <br /> Pesek stated that this is for St. Mary's Cathedral Daycare 112 South Cedar, Grand Island for a <br /> 2005 Dodge van to be used for transportation of daycare and school age children on field trips <br /> or after school transportation or be used by the parish for retreats or other similar purposes. <br /> C) HEARTLAND LUTHERAN HIGH SCHOOL County Treasurer Peg Pesek stated that this is <br /> for Heartland Lutheran High School for a 2003 Thomas bus to be used to transport students to <br /> extra-curricular activities. <br /> She has approved these exemption application as per Nebraska State Statute 77-202 and is <br /> requesting the county board to approve. <br /> 1 <br />
