HALL COUNTY BOARD OF EQUALIZATION MEETING JANUARY 28, 2014 <br /> 9:05 a.m. Ziola made a motion and Quandt seconded to go into a Board of Equalization <br /> meeting. <br /> ROLL CALL VOTE — Present on roll call vote were Scott Arnold, Pamela Lancaster, Bob <br /> McFarland, Gary Quandt, Steve Schuppan and David Ziola. Daniel Purdy was absent due to <br /> illness. Also present were Deputy County Attorney Jack Zitterkopf, Board Assistant Stacey <br /> Ruzicka and County Treasurer Peg Pesek and County Assessor Jan Pelland. <br /> NOTICE OF OPEN MEETING LAW— Chairman McFarland read the notice of the open meeting <br /> law. <br /> MINUTES—Ziola made a motion and Quandt seconded to approve the minutes of the January <br /> 14th meeting. Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and <br /> none voted no. Purdy was absent. Motion carried. <br /> PUBLIC PARTICIPATION - Chairman McFarland called for public participation and no one <br /> responded. <br /> COUNTY TREASURER —County Treasurer Peggy Pesek was present with 4 motor vehicle <br /> exemption applications. She stated that she had received the application from Orphan Grain <br /> Train and had denied the exemption but after the January 14th meeting she received a call from <br /> the Department of Motor Vehicles and they stated that they could use an exempt plate on them. <br /> So she is going to approve the application. She also did some research regarding the <br /> organization and they provide medical supplies, clothing and Christian materials for those in <br /> need. She read the flowing exemption applications: <br /> APPROVE EXEMPTION APPLICATION FOR ORPHAN GRAIN TRAIN FOR A 1985 KING OF <br /> THE ROAD MOTOR HOME —Orphan Grain Train, 421 North Shady Bend Road for a 1985 <br /> King of the Road motor home to be used for fund raising activities that are over a two hour drive <br /> from Grand Island. She has brought this back for the board's consideration and she has <br /> approved this application as per Nebraska State Statute 77-202. <br /> APPROVE EXEMPTION APPLICATION FOR HALL COUNTY LIVESTOCK IMPROVEMENT <br /> ASSN FOR A 1999 CHEVY PICKUP— Hall County Livestock Improvement Assn., 700 East <br /> Stolley Park Road Grand Island, NE fora 1999 Chevrolet pickup. This is normally on the <br /> annual renewals but was omitted and they are requesting it to be approved. It will be used for <br /> 4-H activities, community activities, promotional activities of an educational or charitable nature <br /> horse racing & agricultural including the Hall County Fair, State Fair and State 4-H Horse Show. <br /> She has approved this application as per Nebraska State Statute 77-202 and is requesting the <br /> County Board's approval. <br /> APPROVE EXEMPTION APPLICATION FOR GIRL SCOUTS SPIRIT OF NEBRASKA FOR A <br /> 1992 CHEVY PICKUP — Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska, 2400 Wildwood Drive. Grand Island, for <br /> a 1992 Chevrolet Pickup to be used to move snow, haul tree limbs and wood chips, camp <br /> supplies and camp gear for the Girl Scouts. She has approved this application as per Nebraska <br /> State Statute 77-202 and is requesting the County Board's approval. <br />
