HALL COUNTY BOARD OF EQUALIZATION MEETING JANUARY 29, 2013 <br /> 9:10 a.m. Quandt made a motion and Ziola seconded to go into a Board of Equalization <br /> meeting. <br /> ROLL CALL VOTE — Present on roll call vote were Scott Arnold, Pamela Lancaster, Bob <br /> McFarland, Daniel Purdy, Gary Quandt, Steve Schuppan and David Ziola. Also present were <br /> Deputy County Attorney Jack Zitterkopf and Board Assistant Stacey Ruzicka. <br /> NOTICE OF OPEN MEETING LAW— Chairman Lancaster read the notice of the open meeting <br /> law. <br /> MINUTES —Quandt made a motion and Ziola seconded to approve the minutes of the January <br /> 15, 2013 meeting. Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all <br /> voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> PUBLIC PARTICIPATION - Chairman Lancaster called for public participation and no one <br /> responded. <br /> COUNTY TREASURER - A) APPROVE EXEMPTION APPLICATION FOR GOOD <br /> SAMARITAN SOCIETY OF GRAND ISLAND FOR 4 VEHICLES <br /> B) APPROVE EXEMPTION APPLICATION FOR DESTINY CHURCH ASSEMBLY OF GOD <br /> FOR A 2010 SHARP TRAILER County Treasurer Peg Pesek presented the exemption <br /> applications for the following: <br /> Good Samaritan Society of Grand Island, 4075 Timberline Street, Grand Island, NE for a 2003 <br /> Ford Windstar, 2010 Ford Ameritrans, 2012 Dodge Caravan and a 2001 Dodge Ram pickup. <br /> These were annual renewals and are used to transport residents to doctor and medical <br /> appointments and to transport residents to and from the hospital. In an emergency it would be <br /> used to evacuate residents to safety. It will also be used for field trips, shopping, concerts and <br /> outings. The truck will be used for maintenance around the facility. She recommended <br /> approval as per Nebraska State Statute 77-202 and is requesting the County Board to approve. <br /> Destiny Church Assembly of God 644 South Locust, Grand Island, for a 2010 Sharp Trailer to <br /> be used to haul props, a sound system and electronic equipment from location to location in <br /> Nebraska. She recommended approval under Nebraska State Statute 77-202 and is requesting <br /> the County Board to approve. <br /> Arnold made a motion and Quandt seconded to approve the exemption application for Good <br /> Samaritan Society and Destiny Church. Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, <br /> Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> Ms. Pesek noted that at the last board meeting she was asked about exempting a vehicle that is <br /> used out of state and she read the approved uses for the exemptions and they do meet the <br /> criteria. <br /> Lancaster stated that at the last meeting there was discussion regarding the number of exempt <br /> vehicles that were owned by Goodwill. She stated that Chris Nolan Brown contacted her <br /> regarding this discussion and she accumulated information regarding this issue. She wanted to <br /> know the difference between the exempted value and the actual value. Of the total vehicles 40 <br /> of them were old enough that there was no tax.
