Not all of the Senior Centers are <br /> rent free so there are several things that are taken into account. There is a cost allocation that <br /> is followed. They are on track with the food costs that were budgeted. At Hy-Vee the costs are <br /> the same. <br /> Lancaster stated she would like to look at the numbers. There are other counties that have the <br /> same city county relationship. <br /> Bredthauer addressed concern on the appliances that they may have to replace and Ms. Muzic <br /> stated they have carry over dollars that are used for these expenses. Older American dollars do <br /> not fund all of the costs there are other resources. <br /> Richardson thanked her for the formula and noted that they also have fund raisers. <br /> Lancaster noted the fact that there are board members that serve on MAAA but all of the board <br /> members can serve as alternates on boards. COUNTY ATTORNEY—a) DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION TO APPROVE PUBLIC <br /> DEFENDER'S UNION CONTRACT - The salaries for the public defender are in line with the <br /> county attorney office deputies there was a concern on transportation and that is up to the <br /> elected official regarding the option to drive separately or together. The public defender's union <br /> has signed the contract. Sarah Carstensen did the negotiations. <br /> Quandt made a motion and Bredthauer seconded to approve the agreement and to authorize <br /> the chair to sign. Bredthauer, Hartman, Hurst, Lancaster, Quandt, Petersen and Richardson all <br /> vote yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> b) DISCUSSION OF A SHORT TERM CLOSURE OF HALL COUNTY ATTORNEY'S OFFICE <br /> County Attorney Marty Klein stated that there was discussion to close his office for a short time <br /> but they will remain open and all employees will be able to attend the service if they wish. He <br /> will not require them to use vacation to attend. The board offered their sincere sympathy. <br /> Quandt noted that as an elected official he can close his office. <br /> 5. PUBLIC DEFENDER GERARD PICCOLO DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION <br /> REGARDING CRIMINAL CASES & JUVENILE CASES — Mr. Piccolo he stated that last year he <br /> said he would come back to the board in 6 months regarding the caseloads. In 2018 they had <br /> 926 felony filings in district court an increase of 50. In 2018 his office had 887 felonies and they <br /> 4 <br />
