driveway. Mr., Riehle expressed concern about having 4 or 5 single driveways on this road.
The recommendation is to leave the shared driveway. They would have to approve a driveway
permit to add this additional driveway.
Bredthauer expressed concern that if this driveway was approved there could be 3 or maybe 5
more additional driveways. She noted the restriction in the subdivision agreement.
Lancaster questioned if all of the driveways would have access on the same road. Mr. Riehle
showed the board on the map where they would be.
Schuppan noted that this was a safety issue you try to combine as many as you can. He
expressed concern approving more driveways because this could be a potential problem for
other subdivisions.
Amy Oliver requested to address the board and showed where her house will be located and
noted that the basement has already been dug. They are in lot 3 and they are asking for a
driveway off of Webb Road. This was the best place to build the house but to access their lot
off Webb Road with the shared driveway makes it difficult for trucks to make the turn to get to
their house.
Lanfear made a motion and Bredthauer seconded to deny the driveway permit to Webb road
because of safety issues. Discussion was held and Lanfear withdrew his motion.
Quandt questioned how far this driveway would be from 1R School and Ms. Oliver stated that
there is plenty of room.
Lanfear made a motion and Lancaster seconded to refer this to the Regional Planning
Commission. Bredthauer, Lancaster, Lanfear, Quandt, Richardson and Schuppan all voted yes
and none voted no. Arnold was absent. Motion carried.
FACILITIES SCOTT ARNOLD
a) APPROVAL TO PURCHASE SNOW PLOW AND REAR LIFT GATE FOR NEW PICKUP
There are two proposals included in the board packets. Mr. Humphrey was present. The low
bid was from Matt Friend.
Schuppan made a motion and Lanfear seconded to purchase the lift gate and the snow plow
from Matt Friend in Hastings. Bredthauer, Lancaster, Lanfear, Quandt, Richardson and
Schuppan all voted yes and none voted no. Arnold was absent. Motion carried.
B) UPDATE ON COURTHOUSE SECURITY UPGRADE — Mr. Humphrey stated that he is
waiting for another proposal and will bring this back in 2 weeks.
Update on courthouse security upgrade, he took this to IT department to go through and will
bring it back in two weeks.
C) DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION ON DOOR BEING ADDED TO THE HALLWAY
BETWEEN BOARD ROOM AND ELECTION OFFICE FOR ELECTION SECURITY
IMPROVEMENTS— Election Commissioner Tracy Overstreet is requesting that a door be
added to the hall way by her office. This leads to her records storage area and people have
gone down the hallway looking for other offices. This is a security issue and that is why she is
requesting this be closed off.
5
