11 b) PUBLIC WORKS— B) DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION ON FUTURE PLANNING <br /> FOR THE HALL COUNTY PUBLIC WORKS FACILITY— Discussion was held regarding the <br /> vote on this issue and it will not be voted on today Mr. Schuppan was unable to be here. It will <br /> be on the agenda again in 2 weeks. The following addressed this issue. <br /> Ken Knadt, 1610 Gretchen he attended the open house and complemented the board for <br /> holding it to show the public. He stated that he is convinced that something does need to be <br /> done. He encouraged the board to wait until the new board members take office. <br /> Ron Wanitschke noted that the board dos have quorum but does not want to vote. He read a <br /> statement and noted the City Hall Building and the fact that the city utilities department has a <br /> lawn service do the mowing. He noted that the Buffalo County Courthouse is a functional <br /> building. He expressed concern on the TIF financing and noted that land values are dropping <br /> Eric Hostetler Cairo, Nebraska He did not go to the open house expressed concern moving the <br /> shop building out of town he understands have a building out of town but does not see a reason <br /> to move the offices . He also expressed concern that the wash out building is over a million <br /> dollars. They need to cut back and be more conservative. <br /> Mike Dobesh He did not go to the open house noted that this is a representative form of <br /> government and the board should represent the public and they have not listened. He read a <br /> statement noting the price of corn and beans. He noted his working conditions and the working <br /> conditions of the road department questioned why the board is trying to push this through and <br /> they are not listening also expressed concern on the sale call from Chief and Steve would have <br /> a conflict of interest and concern on the lame duck votes <br /> Mark Janulewicz— He did attend the open house noted the face book message about cancer <br /> expressed concern on the welding fumes they could be vented out, concern on the water and <br /> sewer at the new location and concern on the wash bay questioned who is looking out for the <br /> taxpayer <br /> Andrew Wanitschke — He did not attend the open house he talked to other farmers and this is a <br /> want not a need noted that his shop building is from the 1940's he read a statement they do not <br /> get pay raises and also noted that some farmers have concern's on the line of credit the price of <br /> corn is going down and what will happen if land prices continue to fall he questioned if the cost <br /> of the building includes the water, sewer and fuel containment and landscaping this is just too <br /> expensive he also noted the budget for Howard County they have 863 miles of road and the <br /> budget is under 2 million suggested to take it to a vote of the people <br /> Dick Hartman — He did go to the open house he represents some of these people and <br /> expressed concern that the board is not going to vote on this today he also suggested to take it <br /> to a vote of the people he also noted that there is a proposal to build that the high school is <br /> going to build another building take it to the vote of the people <br /> David Plautz— He did not go to the open house questioned where is the money if you ae short <br /> on wages and benefits it is time to stop spending, he also noted the concern on the TIF <br /> financing you cannot give money away he questioned why the board had to wait until one <br /> person come back he suggested waiting until the new board starts <br /> Richardson sated that the county board also has concern with the TIF financing <br /> 10 <br />
