Ms. Muzik stated she started in September 2017 so she started with a corrective action plan <br /> that had to be followed. There were problems from 2014 that needed to be addressed in order <br /> to preserve the funding for all of the counties. She also stated that if a county experiences <br /> growth there are dollars to help the counties cover the additional expenses. <br /> Lancaster stated that the past director or the board did not know about the 2014 issues that the <br /> dollars were being used for other programs. She expressed concern on how they can justify <br /> doing those programs on our own. She questioned how they can justify paying $6.00 for meals <br /> in another county and Hall County receives less. We get less money and cannot provide the <br /> same number of meals. When the Older American dollars are depleted we need to be sure <br /> there are dollars to continue feeding the people. <br /> Casey Muzik stated that the food funding is not cut it is some of the funding for other programs <br /> and people who were paid out of the grant has been changed. If the staff is in the meal <br /> program they are paid out of that. <br /> Jay Vavricek expressed concern that the total was reduced so services may have to be cut and <br /> they may need additional dollars to support the food program. <br /> Ms. Muzik stated the meals will not stop MAAA has money for additional meals. <br /> Mr. Vavricek questioned how they can maintain the same services. <br /> Lancaster made a motion and Bredthauer seconded to add $70,000 for the purpose of <br /> continuing services as in the past for the food program there will be a line item for the <br /> $70,000.00 if needed. <br /> Lancaster expressed concern that they have to maintain the kitchen and there are janitorial <br /> costs also. <br /> Bredthauer clarified that the boutique, the caregiver and in home services will not be funded. <br /> She questioned if there is extra growth for meal services what would happen. <br /> Ms. Muzik stated that they have an additional $26,000.00 for all 8 counties to use if there is a <br /> shortage. They have only had to use this 3 or 4 times. <br /> Arnold questioned if Senior Citizens has dollars set aside for the buildings and Theresa <br /> indicated that they do not. <br /> Casey they also cover the other expenses they pay for janitorial and other services that are <br /> needed to support the meals <br /> Arnold expressed concern on the additional $70,000.00 line item they would have to cut <br /> $70,000.00 somewhere else, He suggested using miscellaneous general the miscellaneous <br /> line item. Schuppan also expressed concern that this will affect the budget. <br /> Richardson also expressed concern because there is ready a shortfall this year. <br /> Richardson stated that there is a motion on the floor and Lancaster stated she is not going to <br /> amend her motion. <br /> 11 <br />
