DISCUSS AND TAKE ACTION ON MAAA FUNDING FOR HALL COUNTY SENIOR
CITIZENS INDUSTRIES - Lancaster stated that on May 3rd Scott Arnold and her attended the
MAAA meeting they received information regarding the dollars that Senior Citizens is to receive
and expressed concern that they will not be able to offer the same services as last year
because of cuts. It appeared to her that they would be $70,000.00 short for the meals. She
distributed information to the board members showing comparisons of Hall County versus the
other counties. She provided information to the board members comparing the formula that was
used for the allocations and noted that Hall County provides 40% of the meals and is receiving
14% of the funding. She used the same formula for the home delivered meals and noted the
percentage of funding vs. the percentage of meals served.
She also expressed concern on the funding for the other activities, bingo, health fairs, support
for volunteers that they will be cut also.
Discussion was held and Arnold made a motion and Lanfear seconded to table this until after
the presentation at 11:00 so MAAA can be here. He contacted MAAA and Casey Muzik will be
able to come at 11:00.
Quandt questioned why the people present cannot speak.
Arnold noted that it is part of the bylaws that there is a chain of command that should be
followed Casey Muzik can be here and will be able to provide some of the answers
3
