21. DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION CONCERNING APPOINTING ALAINA VERPLANK <br /> HALL COUNTY TREASURER - Richardson stated that Ms. Verplank is the sole candidate <br /> running for office and Peg Pesek will be retiring July 13, 2018. <br /> Lancaster made a motion and Quandt seconded to appoint Alaina Verplank as Hall County <br /> Treasurer effective July 13, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. Arnold, Bredthauer, Lancaster, Lanfear, Quandt, <br /> Richardson and Schuppan all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried <br /> 22. DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION CONCERNING HIRING, TRAINING & SALARY OF <br /> THE HALL COUNTY TREASURER'S DEPUTY-Alaina is hiring an individual for the deputy <br /> position and discussion was held to set a salary and authorize hiring an additional employee. <br /> Arnold made a motion and Quandt seconded to hire and train an additional employee for the <br /> deputy position. Alaina stated this will b e a full time position with a start date of May 7. This <br /> person will not be the deputy until after July 13, 2018. Arnold, Bredthauer, Lancaster, Lanfear, <br /> Quandt, Richardson and Schuppan all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried <br /> COMMITTEE OR BOARD MEMBER REPORTS— Bredthauer attended the planning <br /> commission meeting and the public hearing for the planned unit development for Prairie <br /> Meadows was set. There will be 9 lots and 6 housing lots. This will be a great addition to the <br /> area. <br /> Lancaster stated that the Nebraska Public Employees Retirement Board met and they <br /> encourage giving employees information regarding 6 months before retirement. Lancaster also <br /> noted that it is important to attend the retirement seminars. Marla Conley sated that she <br /> provides a handbook to employees with information from NPERS. <br /> Quandt stated he attended the Northwest Board meeting and he will be on the Northwest Middle <br /> School Task Force. <br /> NEW OR UNFINISHED BUSINESS Chair Richardson called for any other new or unfinished <br /> business and no one responded. <br /> Meeting adjourned at 1:15 p.m. The next meeting will be May 1, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. <br /> Marla J.
