Concern was expressed that as an elected official they could refuse to do the GIS duties. <br /> Discussion was held and when the board does the interviews this could be discussed. <br /> The vote on the motion was taken Arnold, Bredthauer, Lancaster Richardson and Schuppan all <br /> voted yes and Lanfear and Quandt voted no. Motion carried. <br /> Arnold noted this is a unique situation the state statutes may change and he stated he can't <br /> imagine a surveyor that would not have GIS capabilities. <br /> Gary expressed concern that the person may not want to do it could be a problem <br /> 4b DISCUSSION AND ACTION TO APPOINT A NEW COUNTY HIGHWAY <br /> SUPERINTENDENT AND FIX A SALARY THEREFORE Mr. Zitterkopf stated the other half of <br /> this issue is that Resolution 16-060 appointed Casey Sherlock as the Highway Superintendent <br /> and it would need to be replaced to appoint Steve Riehle as the Hall County Highway <br /> Superintendent and set the salary at $14,745.12 effective January 2018 with a 2% cola increase <br /> each year after that. The County Engineer is at$104,950.04 and that would make the.total of <br /> $119,695.16. Jack stated that he has talked to Steve about this and he has expressed <br /> approval. <br /> Schuppan made a motion and Richardson seconded to approve Resolution 17-063 appointing <br /> the County Highway Superintendent Steve Riehle at a salary of$119,695.16. Arnold, <br /> Bredthauer, Lancaster, Lanfear, Quandt, Richardson and Schuppan all voted yes and none <br /> voted no. Motion carried. <br /> Arnold noted the effective date of January 2018 and Jack stated that before this was a fiscal <br /> year basis but now it will coincide with the elected office. <br /> Lancaster stated she appreciates the fact that Steve will step forward and she has had phone <br /> calls from the employees supporting the appointment. <br /> 4 <br />
