10:40 a.m. Held a Board of Corrections meeting <br /> 10:55 a.m. Adjourned the Board of Corrections meeting and returned to the regular meeting. <br /> Casey Sherlock returned with the bid tabulation for the asphaltic concrete resurfacing. He <br /> stated he reviewed the math and there were no errors on the calculations and he would <br /> recommend awarding the bid to Gary Smith Construction for$469,357.64. <br /> Lanfear made a motion and Arnold seconded to award the bid to Gary Smith Construction for <br /> $469,357.64. Arnold, Bredthauer, Lancaster, Lanfear, Quandt, Richardson and Schuppan all <br /> voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> BOARD MEMBER'S REPORTS—Chairman Lancaster called for board member's reports and <br /> no one responded. <br /> BOARD ASSISTANT'S REPORT— Stacey reminded the board members that she will be out of <br /> the office starting Friday and part time after that. <br /> NEW OR UNFINISHED BUSINESS—Chairman Lancaster called for new or unfinished <br /> business. <br /> County Attorney Jack Zitterkopf requested to address the board. He stated that it has been an <br /> honor to serve Hall County and an honor and a privilege to serve the Citizen of Hall County and <br /> to serve this board as civil council. When he was appointed as County Attorney and it was the <br /> high points of this legal career to take the positon as County Attorney. But times change and <br /> relationships change and he will be submitting his resignation effective February 13, 2018. <br /> He stated that he will do anything that the board asks him to do until then. <br /> Lancaster a tremendous surprise happy for Jack but regretful for the board. The board is <br /> appointing the assessor is this the same process and Jack stated that it would be. She stated <br /> she will lean on Jack and his expertise to get this accomplished. <br /> Arnold no one talked to him about the salary resolution does Jack think the board is in the ball <br /> park for salaries. Jack stated he was under the misconception that that Buffalo County was at <br /> $130,00 but Karen stated that he is at $110,000. <br /> Jack noted that Sarpy County has 22 deputies but they have call 4 bureau chiefs and they are <br /> making $136,000 each. The Chief Deputy in Lancaster County is making $139,000 but they <br /> are much larger. He stated the answer to the question is he resigning because of salary and <br /> the answer is no. The city attorney makes $135,000 but his office does not compare with the <br /> county there is still work to do about staffing in his office in the next 5 months. Jack stated it is <br /> not about the salary <br /> Arnold was confident that was not his motivation but he is concerned about the number because <br /> of what NACO may recommend. <br /> Schuppan we need to move forward and look at NACO's recommendations also. <br /> Arnold sure that was not the issue and if that was it he would not have accepted the job. Arnold <br /> also stated the board needs to look at NACO's recommendations also. <br /> 8 <br />
