9:05 A.M. Held a Board of Equalization meeting <br /> 9:10 a.m. Adjourned the Board of Equalization meeting and returned to the regular meeting. <br /> 4. MIKE PONTE & DON SHUDA PRESENTATION REGARDING VETERANS PARK FUTURE <br /> NEEDS— Don Shuda and Mike Ponte who is the chairman of the United Veterans Club were <br /> present. Mike stated that they are putting in a memorial side walk on the new south entrance of <br /> the park. They have removed all of the old trees and trimmed the others. He stated he <br /> appreciates the work that Mr. Humphrey has done. <br /> The new trees will be added in several phases and they want to install a sprinkler system. They <br /> would also like to add two additional shelters. The concrete pads are already there. There is a <br /> plan that has already been approved for the replacement of the trees and there will now be <br /> additional room for more memorials. It has been a bid improvement. <br /> Schuppan as if the new sprinkler system can be tied into the old system and Mr. Ponte stated it <br /> could they just need 4 stations and extend it from the wells. They have a list of the trees that <br /> has been approved. They want people to be able to see the park. <br /> Quandt stated there has been discussion regarding the 2 ball fields that are on the county <br /> property and the fact that they would like to make them handi capped assessable. <br /> h end of this Bredthauer questioned if the <br /> Lanfear stated that the trees will be coming the week. Bredthaue <br /> 9 q <br /> sprinklers in before the trees are planted. Lanfear stated that they are working on a plan for the <br /> sprinklers. <br /> Lancaster noted there are funds to replace the trees. <br /> Richardson thanked them for working with Mr. Humphrey and she invited them to come to the <br /> facilities committee. Mr. Humphrey has free trees and the project is going well. <br /> Mr. Ponte also noted that they have bricks for the sidewalks for sale. <br /> Lancaster stated the bricks are $100.00. And thanked Mr. Ponte he works hard for the club. <br /> PUBLIC PARTICIPATION —Chairman Lancaster called for public participation and Anthony <br /> Dooley, 3060 Roselawn Drive, Grand Island stated he is no in favor of the Meadow Lane <br /> rezoning. These are large residential lots but there will be businesses of Highway#30. There is <br /> a frontage road that would allow access and he expressed concern on the water issues. He <br /> stated he has a petition with 72 signatures. <br /> Bredthauer noted that this is Highway 34 and Shad Bend Road and would be in the city's <br /> jurisdiction. He should share his concerns with the city council they will be making the decision. <br /> II lots <br /> Chad Nabity present and noted on September 26 the original Ian was to rezone all 3 <br /> y was p p plan <br /> now they will put 4 residential lost on Goldenrod and only 2 lots on the southern part as <br /> commercial.
