9:05 a.m. Held a Board of Equalization meeting. <br /> 9:23 a.m. Adjourned the Board of Equalization meeting and returned to the regular <br /> meeting. <br /> 5, PRESENTATION REGARDING HALL COUNTY 4-H TEENS AS TEACHERS PROGRAM - <br /> Bredthauer stated that there was a new program started at the Extension office and she ask <br /> D'Ette Scholtz with the Hall County Extension office to give a presentation on this program. <br /> D'Ette stated that they received some funding for this program and they hired two high school <br /> students to encourage all kids to experience 4H program this summer. She introduced <br /> Rosalinda Sebastian and Maricella Paramo. <br /> Rosalinda is a student at Senior High and Maricella stated she just graduated. They <br /> explained that they wanted to reach students that would not normally have an <br /> opportunity to participate in 4H programs. <br /> They held programs at St Mary's, Howard School and Cherry Park Apartments. They <br /> held various sessions to engage kids and make it fun in areas like science, engineering, <br /> animals, and entrepreneurs to start a business, stress relief, the environment and health <br /> eating. And also communicating and relationships. Their goal was to reach <br /> underserved audiences. They distributed flyers at the various locations and let the kids <br /> attending summer school at Howard know that the classes. <br /> The board members complemented the girls on their efforts and encouraged them to <br /> continue. <br /> PUBLIC PARTICIPATION — Chairman Lancaster called for public participation and <br /> Matt McGuire requested to address the board and he noted the following. <br /> • Expressed concern from rural Hall county about cutting law enforcement and fire <br /> services Lancaster noted that this was a City of Grand Island Issue and the <br /> county would have no control over this <br /> • Concern on the proposed truck wash that was not approved <br /> • Concern on reckless driving <br /> • Concern on crime issues <br /> • Concern on the rerouting of Highway#30 <br /> • Concern on the fire protection in Kenesaw <br /> • Addressed concern on the condition of Mr. Stueven' s land suggested the county <br /> should help him negotiate contracts <br /> • Suggested he county should reallocate funds to help with the police and fire <br /> 7. FACILITIES - <br /> a) FEDERAL BUILDING UPDATE— Richardson stated that the renovations for the Federal <br /> building are moving along according to the schedule. The walls are painted a light gray and the <br /> trim is a darker gray color. Loran distributed a new construction schedule to the board <br /> members. Building and Grounds is working with Doug with IT Department to help pull cable in <br /> the building. He stated that they had a construction meeting and they explain what they are <br /> 2 <br />
