The old materials will have to be scraped off
by hand and repaired. He has one proposal and is seeking more. Elastomeric is a roofing
compound. He is waiting for more proposals but since then he talked to Marvin Webb about a
company that restores concrete and he would like to see what that restoration process would
be. He has someone to fix the pillars.
C) DISCUSSION AND UPDATE REGARDING REMOVAL OF ASBESTOS IN FEDERAL
BUILDING - Richardson stated that Mike O'Neill has completed the removal of the asbestos in
the Federal Building. There was another 600 square foot room that he also did that was not
included in the contract. Mr. Humphrey explained that there was concern on the asbestos tile
that was under the legs on the baseboard heaters but it will be covered with carpet and there
should not be a problem with this as long as the county owns the building.
Lancaster noted that some time back Jerry Janulewicz worked on the county buildings when
there was a proposal to remove the old health department building when the City wanted it for
more parking. At one time there was an asbestos study that was done on the old health
department building. Mr. Humphrey stated he would like a copy of it. Lancaster stated she
appreciated that Jerry brought this to our attention.
Mr. Humphrey stated that they looked at the bids that were received for the Federal building and
they will bring back a recommendation in 2 weeks.
