BOARD ASSISTANT'S REPORT— Board Assistant Stacey Ruzicka reminded the board <br /> member of their reports. She also stated that for the next 3 weeks she will be helping the <br /> election commissioner and she asked the board members to leave her an e mail or a message <br /> and she will get back to them on the urgent issues. Lancaster thanked Stacy for helping the <br /> election commissioner. <br /> Arnold stated he attended the Central Nebraska Community Action Program meeting and stated <br /> that"community action program"was the original name. <br /> PUBLIC WORKS REPORT ON THE BID OPENING—Casey Sherlock reported that the total of <br /> the bids was $342,223.82 that is 25% over the funds available. He is recommending awarding <br /> 85% of the bids received and that would be $273,779.05. <br /> Quandt questioned if they could use a percentage of the bids and Casey stated they could. <br /> Lancaster expressed concern that there have been issues the last few springs regarding gravel <br /> and she does not want this to become a board issue. Casey stated that what he is <br /> recommending will not be a problem. They have increased the amount of gravel and are <br /> graveling more roads than in the past. He feels comfortable with the 85%. He recommended <br /> the following. <br /> Project A Hooker Bros Sand & Gravel $35,190.00 <br /> Project B Hooker Bros. Sand & Gravel $46,509.45 <br /> Project C Mid Nebraska Aggregate $70,571.25 <br /> Project D Mid Nebraska Aggregate $69,190.00 <br /> Project E Mid Nebraska Aggregate $52,318.35 <br /> The total would be $273,779.05 and to accept all pit prices. <br /> Quandt made a motion and Lanfear seconded to award the bids and use a percentage of the <br /> proposed amount as recommend by public works director and accept all of the pit prices. <br /> Arnold stated they use all of the pit prices because of location. Casey stated they are using <br /> courser gravel with less sand. Arnold, Lancaster, Lanfear, Purdy, Quandt and Richardson all <br /> voted yes and none voted no. Schuppan was absent. Motion carried. <br /> NACO—Casey stated the he is on the NACO Board as the representative for the Highway <br /> Superintendents affiliate and has served 3 consecutive terms so his term has expired. . They <br /> have asked him to run for secretary treasurer. There has never been a surveyor representative <br /> on the NACO Executive Board. He would like to serve and this will be decided at the December <br /> NACO Conference. <br /> Lancaster thanked Casey for bringing this forward and they should support him. She also <br /> stated that the board members serve on other various boards and she would encourage them to <br /> ask for the outside boards to also support him. <br /> Casey stated that the Nebraska State Highway Commission will be meeting in Grand Island to <br /> discuss some of the upcoming projects and will take local input. They will be discussing the <br /> Highway 281 project and Highway 30. <br /> 15. FACILITIES AGENDA— b) Signage for the Federal Building • Mr. Humphrey showed two <br /> signs for the Federal Building the one sign is 20' x 30' and is mounted on a 6 foot pole for <br /> 7 <br />
