OFFICE REPORT <br /> HALL COUNTY SHERIFF <br /> APRIL, MAY, JUNE 2016 <br /> HANDGUN APPLICATIONS $ 295.00 <br /> TITLE INSPECTIONS $ 10,830.00 <br /> COPIES $ 66.00 <br /> 9:10 a.m. Held a Board of Equalization meeting <br /> 9:30 a.m. adjourned the Board of Equalization meeting <br /> Returned to the regular meeting. <br /> PUBLIC PARTICIPATION - Chairman Arnold called for public participation and no one <br /> responded. <br /> 5d) CONSIDERATION AND POSSIBLE ACTION ON A RESOLUTION TO GUARANTEE <br /> EXTRADITION COSTS OF LENCHO ALI —Chief Deputy Chris Rea and Chief Deputy County <br /> Attorney Sarah Carstensen were present. Sarah Carstensen stated that this was a trial in May <br /> of 2013. There were hundreds of hours of work and trial preparation, hours of citizens time and <br /> then he skips town. <br /> Lencho Ali faces charges for the rape of a cognitive and mentally challenged person. He was <br /> convicted in May of 2013. He is on the FBI wanted poster and he was found in Australia. The <br /> local Sheriff's office was contacted and are trying to get him back. She stated that"operation <br /> welcome home" helps to pay for extradition cost but that process takes time and the paperwork <br /> will take a couple of months. He can be held in Australia until August 2017. He did post a bond <br /> of$20,000.00 and those dollars were forfeited. <br /> She is asking for a letter of guarantee and documentation that we would be responsible and pay <br /> the costs of extradition of about $20,000.00. <br /> Quandt made a motion and Richardson seconded to move forward with the extradition and to <br /> guarantee extradition costs for Lencho Ali and to approve Resolution #16-046. <br /> Arnold stated you cannot let folks scoff the law and if they leave the country then they are not <br /> responsible. <br /> It will take 2 or 3 deputies to bring him back and Chris Rea is a federal deputy. <br /> Quandt stated that law enforcement has done their job and the County Attorney has done their <br /> job. <br /> The vote on the emotion to approve Resolution #16-046 was taken. Arnold, Lancaster, Lanfear, <br /> Purdy, Quandt, Richardson and Schuppan all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> Schuppan asked when a bond is forfeited where the funds go. The remaining funds go back to <br /> the general fund after the court costs of 10% are taken out. <br /> Mr. Zitterkopf requested a certified copy of the resolution. <br /> 3 <br />
