Schuppan stated that they need to take another look at the agreement with the Humane Society <br /> and have a public hearing regarding this issue. He also stated that there are no fees in the <br /> agreement and he would like to know what it is going to cost. This will be discussed later in the <br /> meeting. <br /> The vote on the consent agenda items was taken. Arnold, Lancaster, Lanfear, Purdy, Quandt, <br /> Richardson and Schuppan all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> PUBLIC PARTICIPATION —Chairman Arnold called for public participation and no one <br /> responded. <br /> COUNTY ATTORNEY— Mr. Zitterkopf stated he did not have any items listed. <br /> COMMITTEE OR BOARD MEMBER'S REPORTS — Richardson reported that the ad hoc library <br /> committee had one meeting Steve Fosselman and 3 members of the library board and the ad <br /> hoc committee were there. There was good discussion and different ideas were discussed. <br /> They will have another meeting and try to get closer to a decision. <br /> Lancaster stated that she and Jan met Dr. Grover the new superintendent of schools and <br /> discussed how the county and school district could collaborate. Lancaster noted that they <br /> worked with the county on the bond issue. Good communication is vital and they can assist one <br /> another. <br /> BOARD ASSISTANT—Stacey stated she did not have a report. <br /> 6. HALL COUNTY HERO FLIGHT PRESENTATION—Chairman Arnold asked Gary Quandt to <br /> address the Hero Flight presentation. He stated that they worked with Don Smith, Don Shuda <br /> and Pam Lancaster and they have a video of the flight that was produced by the Staff at the <br /> Grand Island Independent. They showed the video. <br /> Clarence Stevens was present and stated that he severed from 1965 to 1990 and was in <br /> Vietnam in 1968. With this trip he now has closure when he returned they spit on his uniform. <br /> Now by going on this trip he is proud of his service again. <br /> Dan Wagner thanked the board, Don Shuda and the committee for what they have done there <br /> are so many good people to thank. He did not go to Vietnam his brother Dennis was there. He <br /> encouraged the veterans to tell their stories with the school children. A soldier is not Rambo or <br /> what they see in the movies they are teachers and bus drivers. <br /> Don Shuda stated that this all started because of Willie Skala invited him to a meeting. Willie is <br /> the grandfather of this project. <br /> Mr. Shuda thanked the community Jane & Jeff from Balz, many have donated the $1,500.00 for <br /> a veteran to go. JBS, McCain Foods were presented plaques for the commitments. Mr. Shuda <br /> presented a clock to Don Smith and thanked the staff from the Grand Island Independent. They <br /> produced the video of the trip.
