1A RECOGNITION OF COUNTY EMPLOYEE FOR MILITARY SERVICE - Ms. Richardson <br /> stated that the employee recognition committee met and agreed to recognize a veteran who <br /> works for Hall County at each county board meeting. <br /> She read the certificate recognizing Roland Seevers an employee of the Road Department. Mr. <br /> Seevers stated was in the Army and service as a teletype operator. <br /> County Surveyor Casey Sherlock stated he has worked for the Road Department sense 1992 <br /> running a maintainer in Doniphan he retired in 2008 but still works part time mowing the road <br /> sides. <br /> 9:10 A.M. Held a Board of Equalization meeting <br /> 9:21 a.m. Adjourned the Board of Equa lization meeting and returned t o the regular meeting. <br /> PUBLIC PARTICIPATION —Chairman Arnold called for public participation and Matt McGuire. <br /> 15346 West Barrows Road Kenesaw, Nebraska requested to address the County Board. <br /> He noted the following, the county did a good job after the blizzard but expressed concern on <br /> the city equipment, he is pleased with the location of the new road department office, expressed <br /> concern on some of the gravel roads and presented pictures for the board to see, he expressed <br /> concern that there needs to be more rest areas on 180 and concern on litter control on the 180 <br /> ramp at Wood River, expressed concern on the veterans home, they voted a prison out town <br /> but could not vote on the veterans home and he expressed concern on a drive way that is too <br /> narrow. <br /> COUNTY ATTORNEY—County Attorney Jack Zitterkopf reported that all five copies of the <br /> Interlocal agreements for the county building inspection have been signed. <br /> 5A) PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION — Discussion and action on bids for <br /> construction of county bridge project C40(333) —Casey Sherlock was present and they <br /> reviewed the bids and stated there was some concern on the construction schedule. But he <br /> stated that the capital improvements for this fiscal year will meet the million dollar improvement <br /> item in the budget. <br /> He distributed the bid tabs from the bid opening the board questioned the big difference on the <br /> bids that were submitted. Mr. Sherlock stated he discussed the issue with Diamond <br /> Engineering and they felt that Thiesen would to a good job they specialize doing projects like <br /> this. This bid would be under budget. He recommended awarding the bid to Thiesen for <br /> $83,440.00 with the work to start July 12, 2016. They have already purchased the material for <br /> the project. <br /> Schuppan made a motion and Purdy seconded to accept the bid from Thiesen Construction for <br /> project C40 (333) and authorize the Chair to sign the contract. Arnold, Lancaster, Lanfear, <br /> Purdy, Quandt, Richardson and Schuppan all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 6. RECOGNITION OF TODD BAHENSKY FOR 30 YEARS OF SERVICE WITH HALL <br /> COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT— Hall County Sheriff Jerry Watson was present. He read <br /> a statement of Todd's history with Hall County and his many accomplishments. He presented <br /> Todd with an award for his 30 years of service to Hall County. <br /> Mr. Quandt asked Todd what his most memorable day was. Todd stated that it is difficult to <br /> single out one day but he stated that when people underneath him were promoted was most <br /> 3 <br />
