9:05 A.M. Held a Board of Equalization meeting
9:09 a.m. Adjourned the Board of Equalization meeting and returned to the regular meeting.
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION — Chairman Arnold called for public participation and no one
responded.
4. COUNTY ATTORNEY - DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION TO APPROVE & AUTHORIZE
CHAIRMAN TO SIGN REAL ESTATE PURCHASE AGREEMENT
County Attorney Jack Zitterkopf stated that the Roads Department received an offer from
Southern Public Power District to purchase 17 acres of ground at the Cornhusker Army
Ammunition Plant for$150,000.00. He finished the purchase agreement yesterday and is
asking the board to approve and authorize the Chair to sign.
Schuppan made a motion and Quandt seconded to approve the agreement and authorize the
Chair to sign and pay the funds from the building and land improvement fund.
Lancaster stated that this is good timing and this worked out well.
Quandt asked if the intent is to move the Road Department, Weed Department and the Building
Inspector. Schuppan stated it has been discussed to move all three departments but no
decision has been made.
Lanfear stated that the Hall County Sheriff wanted to let Casey know that he did a great job on
the roads. He also stated that the current location of the road department is being boxed in by
the city. The new location is an exceptional place.
Lancaster stated that she is pleased that Steve said there is no decision made. Schuppan said
this could work to have all of the departments in one location. The sale of the two properties
could be used to fund the new building. There is no decision just a thought process.
Arnold noted that this was the edge of town but now it is the middle of town. It takes time to get
equipment out to the country roads. It would be on Alda Road and Old Potash Highway. It is 17
acres in an industrial area it makes a lot of sense and it is a good location.
Schuppan stated this offer is generous compared to what ag land has been bringing. today this
is turning into a plan.
The vote on the motion to authorize the Chair to sign the purchase agreement was taken.
Arnold, Lancaster, Lanfear, Purdy, Quandt and Schuppan all voted yes and none voted no.
Richardson was absent. Motion carried.
Casey Sherlock thanked Jack for his hard work, he has not purchased real estate for the county
before and this required his expertise.
7. PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION — DISCUSSION AND ACTION ON
BIDS FOR 2016 LOADERS —Casey Sherlock was present and stated the public works
committee has had several meeting to analyze the bids. They are recommending the following:
Award the bid for the 43,000 Komatsu loader to Road Builders for$172,293.00
Award the bid for the 29,000 John Deere loader to Murphy Tractor for$166,550.00
3
