<br />tr~ r-- sir <br /> <br />~- <br /> <br />HALL COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEETING, OCTOBER 6, 1992 <br /> <br />~' <br /> <br />The Hall County Board of Supervisors met at 9:00 A.M. from adjourned session <br />and by published call with Chairperson Margaret Landis presiding. <br /> <br />Present on roll call were Irene Abernethy, Richard Frauen, Margaret Landis, <br />Robert Leslie, Gary Quandt and Bill Wright. Richard Hartman arrived at 10:00A.M. <br /> <br />Invocation was given by Abernethy. <br /> <br />Pledge of Allegiance was given. <br /> <br />Minutes of September 29th meeting were accepted as received, on motion by <br />Frauen, seconded by Abernethy. On roll call vote Abernethy, Frauen, Leslie, <br />Quandt, Wright and Landis voted yes, none voted no, with Hartman absent. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />Deputy Attorney JerryJanulewicz was present. Ite:ereseii-te-ca offer to purchase <br />vacant lot, known as Lot 16 Kallos 2nd Subdivision, sold by Associated Realty <br />for $6500.00 to Tim & Karen Johnson. <br />Motion by Frauen, seconded by Quandt to approve the sale of Lot 16 Kallos <br />2nd Subdivision for $6500.00 and authorize chairman to sign necessary papers. <br />On roll call vote Abernethy, Frauen, Leslie, Quandt, Wright and Landis voted <br />yes, none voted no, with Hartman absent. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Deputy Attorney Janulewicz had given a written opinion on the Civil Defense <br />Siren Location which Board Members had requested. He summarized the opinion <br />and stated the petitons presented in opposition to the location of the siren <br />has no statutory provision that requires a county board to act in accordance <br />with petitions when determining the location of the siren. There is no legal <br />significance, and accord the petitions with whatever force and affect as the <br />board deems appropriate and then take action~accordingly. <br /> <br />There were three residents of the Hidden Lakes area present today. <br />Karen Colan, 225 Lakeside Drive spoke. She stated her house was the highest <br />in the area and she opposes the location as will be located 300 ~eet from her <br />house and she can look out her loft window see over the top of power poles. <br /> <br />Howard Maxon, Civil Defense Director was present. He had sent Board Members <br />written opinion with four options for consideration in the location of the <br />siren. <br /> <br />Motion by Frauen, seconded by Quandt to approve Maxon's recommendation and <br />place the siren on the county road location listed in option number one. <br />On roll call vote Abernethy, Frauen, Leslie, Quandt, Wright and Landis voted <br />yes, none voted no, with Hartman absent. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Ethel Rasmussen, representative from Social Service Office spoke in regard to <br />their request for bus tickets to Texas by wives, girlfriends or friends of <br />illegal aliens. They have had seven requests to day, one was a mother and <br />seven children. County Board members will have to change policy if they wish <br />to provide this service. Following discussion, board members felt to wait <br />and see what develops and to not change the policy at this time. Social <br />Service representative to keep board members informed as to requests received. <br /> <br />Discussion on names for possible appointments to Regional Planning Commission <br />board to fill vacancy. Several names were suggested but have not received <br />any formal applications. <br /> <br />Renewal of amusement license application was presented from Fonner View Golf <br />Course for 1 year. <br />Motion by Frauen, seconded by Quandt to approve the renewal of amusement <br />license for Fonner View Golf Course for 1 year. On roll call vote Abernethy, <br />Frauen, Leslie, Quandt, Wright and Landis voted yes, none voted no, with <br />Hartman absent. Motion carried. <br /> <br />County Treasurer's report on delinquent personal property taxes for 1991 and <br />prior years was presented. Have issued 238 distress warrants with taxes and <br />interest amounting to $74,849.59 and have been turned over to County Sheriff's <br />office for collection. <br />Motion by Frauen, seconded by Quandt to accept and place on file the <br />County Treasurer's delinquent personal property taxes report. On roll call <br />vote Abernethy, Frauen, Leslie, Quandt, Wright and Landis voted yes, none <br />voted no, with Hartman absent. Motion carried. <br /> <br />COMMUNICATIONS: <br /> <br />1. Copy of letter to County Superintendent of Schools from Hall County <br />Education Association Secretary in regard to Hall County Educational <br />Directory. <br />
