UPDATE ON FEDERAL BUILDING - Jane Richardson stated that Joseph Potter is her <br /> contact and she wanted to give the board a quick update. No one else has applied for the <br /> building under the housing act at this time. The county is the only one that has expressed an <br /> interest and was going to use the historical monument application but Mr. Potter has <br /> encouraged the county to also use a second option. He is working on a number for the <br /> negotiated sale and working on the lease with the IRS. He should have this information by <br /> October 15t and he suggested working on the application and submitting it in 30 days or as soon <br /> as possible. <br /> Craig Hand encouraged the county to move forward with the acquisition of the Federal Building. <br /> They want to improve down town and make it viable for business. If it is used for offices with a <br /> steady stream of business that will help downtown. <br /> Christie DePoorter the new director of the downtown business improvement district stated they <br /> are looking at the parking downtown and the parking ramp. She offered her services regarding <br /> the parking issues and if the county needs information for the application process. <br /> Lancaster stated that she has received phone calls regarding the parking downtown and they <br /> think there is ample parking downtown. Discussion was held and it was noted that business <br /> owners could leave parking in front of the business available for the public. <br /> 2 <br />
