D DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING THE HIRING OF INTERIM <br /> CORRECTIONS DIRECTOR—County Attorney Jack Zitterkopf stated that last Thursday <br /> The corrections director and assistant director were terminated and he was asked to act as <br /> director until they could find and decide on someone to serve as an interim director for 90 to 120 <br /> days. They want to do a thorough national search and he was asked to coordinate the search <br /> for the interim position. He contacted 2 individuals and they expressed an interest to pursue the <br /> position. <br /> Charles Randy Houser, Falls City, Nebraska and Ric Hallett, Hastings Nebraska retired patrol <br /> officer and currently does investigative work. <br /> Ric Hallett, Hastings, Nebraska <br /> • Started his career in Arkansas in 1975 <br /> • Moved to Nebraska in 1981 and worked as a patrol officer for the City of Hastings <br /> • Became sergeant in 1988 and supervisors in 1995 <br /> • 1995 transferred to the detective unit <br /> • Served on the Tri City Task Force and was a special FBI agent <br /> • Appointed as a special deputy by the Governor <br /> • Stated he has very little jail experience <br /> • Served on the FOP union and the labor counsel <br /> • He served on the patrol from 2000 to 2005 and then retired <br /> • He stated his management style is open door and he believes in motivating people and <br /> appreciates the employees <br /> Charles Randy Houser Falls, City, Nebraska <br /> • He is a certified law enforcement officer in Nebraska <br /> • Certified jail administrator <br /> • Has 28 years of serve in the Marines, 20 years active duty and 8 reserves <br /> • Operated an over the road truck for 8 years <br /> • 2003 oved to Falls City to be close to his wife's family <br /> • Was a deputy sheriff in Richardson County <br /> • 2010 was elected as Richardson County Sheriff <br /> • His management style is professionalism fairness & respect <br /> He submitted a copy of his resume and other information. He stated his military experience will <br /> be an advantage <br /> The board members asked various questions. <br /> Mr. Zitterkopf asked if there were thoughts about an assistant and asked about appointing a <br /> second in command. <br /> Quandt have a board of corrections he understands that and he would report the board of <br /> corrections <br /> Lancaster stated this is an interim positon and they will do a national search and the pay is <br /> competitive. She asked what is management style is and Mr. Houser stated it is <br /> professionalism, fairness and firmness so employees can self-report. <br /> Lanfear there are a lot of wounds to heal. Mr. House stated His military experience has prepare <br /> him for that, he is approachable and listens. <br /> 5 <br />
