NOTICE OF OPEN MEETING LAW—Chairman Arnold read the notice of open meeting law. <br /> County Attorney Jack Zitterkopf stated that it would be a good idea to do a background check <br /> on both candidates and he should hear back from the sheriff's office in about 15 minutes <br /> Recessed the meeting at 9:10 a.m. <br /> 9:35 a.m. returned to session. <br /> Mr. Zitterkopf requested that the board go into executive session regarding item 4 d discuss and <br /> take action on interim corrections director. <br /> Lancaster made a motion and Quandt seconded to go into executive session this executive <br /> session is to protect the needless injury of an individual. Arnold, Lancaster, Lanfear, Purdy, <br /> Quandt, Richardson and Schuppan all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 9:40 a.m. executive session <br /> 10:17 a.m. Quandt made a motion and Lancaster seconded to go out of executive session, no <br /> other subjects were discussed no votes were taken and no action was taken. Arnold, <br /> Lancaster, Lanfear, Purdy, Quandt, Richardson and Schuppan all voted yes and none voted no. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> Quandt made a motion and Schuppan seconded to appoint Mr. Houser as the interim <br /> corrections director. <br /> Quandt stated that this has been a difficult time and he thanked Mr. Zitterkopf for everything that <br /> he has done. This will provide stability for the short term. <br /> Arnold stated that this is based on his management experience and military experience and he <br /> is familiar with jail standards. <br /> Purdy he was a county official and also familiar with the background with NIRMA and Terry <br /> Baxter will be out to help him. <br /> The vote on the motion to appoint Randy House was taken. Arnold, Lancaster, Lanfear, Purdy, <br /> Quandt, Richardson and Schuppan all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> Mr. Zitterkopf suggested that the new interim director be paid the same as the former director <br /> p gg p <br /> because you are asking someone to do this job for a short period of time. . The board may not <br /> want to start at that point with the permanent director. <br /> Lancaster made a motion and Quandt seconded to pay Mr. Houser the same rate as the <br /> previous director and reconsider that rate for the permanent position and adjust the pay range <br /> according to the salary survey. . Arnold, Lancaster, Lanfear, Purdy, Quandt, Richardson and <br /> Schuppan all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> Lancaster stated that the board needs to move forward and start the process for a new director. <br /> 11 <br />
