County Engineer Casey Sherlock provided copies
of the 1 & 6 Road Program. The Regional Planning Commission held their public hearing and
recommended to approve.
The total projects are $740,000.00 with the county share at $540,000.00 and $200,000.00 fro,
other sources. They have one bridge project at $250,000.00 and 3 box culverts and grading
projects. Project C40 373 is a request to make a minimum maintenance road. It is sand and
they would have to haul in top soil. The cost would be about $150,000.00 to develop this road it
is in the 1 year road program and the cost would be the responsibility of the land owners. They
would need to have an engineer to do this and he would have to approve the project. There
would be an agreement with land owners like they have done in the past.
C40 333 is a bridge project to rebuild an old truss bridge. There are also smaller projects
changing to box culverts and corrugated metal pipes.
He reviewed the 6 year road program and noted that some of the 6 year projects have been
moved to the 1 year plan. They usually try to address the worst bridges.
Quandt asked about the overall condition of the roads. Casey stated he feels better today than
5 years ago and they have made great strides with the asphalt. The cost of asphalt has
dropped and that has helped.
Chairman Arnold called for public participation and no one responded. He stated that he has
looked at some of the roads and is impressed with the condition.
Purdy made a motion and Schuppan seconded to close the public hearing on the 1 & 6 Road
Program.
