Mr. Quandt expressed concern that the county may <br /> not be getting all of the permits on construction. . <br /> Lancaster stated the county could work with the villages and they could help cover part of the <br /> costs and if there are life issues it needs to be addressed. <br /> Mr. Cramer stated he is in construction and from what he sees there needs to be a building <br /> inspector out in the field. They need to get something done. <br /> Jan Pelland County Assessor stated she supports the building inspector they need to <br /> concentrate on building permits and the enforcement. If they do not get permits they cannot <br /> make the changes to the properties. Last year from pictometry they had numerous properties <br /> that needed inspections. In the village of Cairo they did not have to touch the values because of <br /> all of the changes that had been made. It is the law that if changes are made the property <br /> owner have to file and improvement statement with the county assessor. <br /> Dean Kjar stated that there is not state licensing required except for a master plumber. He <br /> would like to see the building inspector reinstated. There needs to be a licensing process. <br /> Quandt made a motion and Lancaster second to set up a meeting with the villages the county <br /> board and Mr. Zitterkopf to set up a building department. Discussion was held to put this in <br /> committee and come back with a recommendation.
