Jerry Pigsley who is a member of the firm will be joining the firm of Woods and <br /> Aitken. They are asking where Hall County would like to have the county files kept and they are <br /> requesting this information quickly. Discussion was held and it was decided to have Mr. Pigsley <br /> retain the files. <br /> 5. 9:30 AM — BID OPENING -- DEMOLITION OF PROPERTY LOCATED AT 115 & 119 S <br /> SYCAMORE STREET— Loran Humphrey, facilities Director stated that they estimated the <br /> demolition to be at about $35,000.00. The asbestos removal will be coordinated with the <br /> demotion so there will not be any liability. <br /> Quandt asked if there was a lead inspection and stated you have to follow the laws. <br /> Mr. Humphrey stated that if the property is pre 1978 there may be issues with lead. Mr. Arnold <br /> stated that no one is living there it is a demolition. <br /> Mr. Humphrey noted that when they did the asbestos inspection and took samples at that time <br /> there was no indication of any lead paint and they visually looked for any lead pipes and all of <br /> the pipes are copper. <br /> Lancaster stated she was not aware of any lead inspection and questioned if it would be a <br /> separate company than the company that did the asbestos inspection. Mr. Humphrey stated <br /> that the houses were rental properties and they would have to comply with code. When he <br /> talked to the city about the demolition they were only concerned about the asbestos. <br /> The following bids were received: <br /> BIDDER BID BOND/CHECK TOTAL BASE BID <br /> O'Neill Transportation Check enclosed $33,000.00 <br /> & Equipment <br /> Mehring Construction Check enclosed $37,047.00 <br /> Galvan Construction Check enclosed $19,990.00 <br /> Hooker Brothers Check enclosed $47,085.00 <br /> Construction <br /> Schuppan made a motion and Lanfear seconded to accept the bids and refer them to the <br /> facilities committee and come back with a recommendation. Discussion was held and they will <br /> meet today and come back to the meeting. . Arnold, Lancaster, Lanfear, Purdy, Quandt, <br /> Richardson and Schuppan all voted yes and no one voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 6a. PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE —A. PRESENTATION BY SHOEMAKER ISLAND <br /> LANDOWNERS —Several land owners requested to address the flood damage on Shoemaker <br /> Island Road. Mr. Bienfield stated that Platte River Recovery blocked the river and built islands <br /> for habitat.
