Discussion was held on the renovations of <br /> the restrooms. <br /> Mr. See stated that the restroom is part of juvenile probation and they do need special <br /> arrangements for the specimen testing. <br /> Lancaster stated that it is not right to upgrade the state probation and not afford the same <br /> upgrades for the other offices. <br /> Discussion was held and it was stressed that it is important to go forward with this. Arnold <br /> noted that they may not need an architect maybe just a draftsman, but will need to have a <br /> building permit. Mr. Humphrey stated that they worked with Dan Douglas before and he could <br /> talk to Casey about having him do some of the work again. <br /> Lancaster stated the time frame is the issue. Mr. Douglas has helped in the past and did a <br /> great job. They are not sure about the restrooms. <br /> Mr. Humphrey stated it will be about $20,000.00 for the restrooms. He asked the board if he <br /> could hire some small contractors to do the work once they have the plans. He will follow the <br /> county purchasing act and will bring it to the county board for approval. Once they have a plan <br /> they will work on purchasing the materials. <br /> Arnold stated that the board learned a lesson from the veteran's service renovations to use <br /> professionals they can come in and get the job done. Mr. Humphrey will bring back some <br /> recommendations at the next meeting. <br /> Mr. Humphrey stated that they are waiting on the fiber optic conduit to be installed. The server <br /> racks are installed and they have installed the doors and will start laying carpet next week. <br /> They will also need some more carpet to finish. They have used Dan Douglas with GIS to draw <br /> some of the floor plans and he would like to ask him again. He will contact Casey to have him <br /> approve it. They are constantly meeting with people and he will bring it to the committee and to <br /> the entire board. <br /> Lancaster made a motion and Lanfear seconded to upgrade the office space for the Public <br /> Defender and Juvenile Diversion to the same or better as the State Probation area. Arnold, <br /> Lancaster, Lanfear, Purdy, Quandt and Schuppan all voted yes and none voted no. Richardson <br /> was absent. Motion carried. <br /> Mr. Humphrey stated they will focus on moving adult probation moved out. They will do juvenile <br /> probation first then juvenile diversion and the public defenders late summer or early fall. <br /> Lancaster stated that discussion was held before that public defenders would receive new <br /> furnishings and she wants to be sure that this is the case. <br /> Mr. Lanfear stated that they need to know what the public defender wants and then bring it back <br /> for approval. <br /> 5 <br />
