Arnold stated that it does not take a motion to do this you can put items on the agenda.
Lancaster made a motion and Quandt seconded to place facilities committee meeting after the
regular board meeting.
Arnold expressed concern that the board is micro managing the committees and since the
committees have changed there seems to be more concern. The board is split on issues and
not agreeing.
Lanfear expressed concern that this slows everything down and it is micro managing.
The board will come back to this for more discussion.
11:00 a.m. Held a Board of Corrections meeting.
11:20 A.M. This is on the agenda for
discussion.
Mr. Piccolo stated that he sent the letter and that he had no idea what was discussed last time.
This had affected his employees and he stated his positon in the letter.
Lancaster stated that after the decision was made she looked at the time line.
Quandt questioned if Mr. Piccolo was contacted and he was but was unable to attend because
he had court and had attorneys in each court room. He needs more advance notice.
Lancaster reviewed the time line regarding the purchase what had been discussed.
Mr. Humphrey came forward and stated that the remodeling for the public defender and juvenile
diversion would be about $77,000.00 not including the ADA and the fiber optic cabling that
needs to be done. Probation would need about $25,000.00 to $30,000.00 to remodel.
Lancaster stated this was discussed at a meeting and she stated that a constitutional office
should have first right to that building. The space was not purchased for probation and she is
not against probation the state makes it a county responsibility.
Quandt expressed concern on the moving costs and who would pay for moving probation. It
was to go to public defender and juvenile diversion.
Arnold stated he appreciated the history but when it was purchased the board was told
probation needed 10,000 square feet and it would not work but with the change in leadership at
probation they now felt it would work. The state is going to continue to expand probation and
there would be additional space that the public defender would not need. His decision was
based on what the best space needs would be for the offices.
7
