Motion carried. <br /> <br />Sandi Yoder, Stuhr Museum Director was present to answer any questions Board <br />members might have in regard to proposed naming of Henry Fonda Memorial Highway. <br /> <br />Letter from Stuhr Museum Board of Trustees President was read, requesting the <br />County Board pass a resolution requesting the State of Nebraska designate 5.6 <br />miles of u.s. Highway 34, between the Hamilton County Bridge and the intersec- <br />tion of u.S. 281 as "Henry Fonda Memorial Highway" Stuhr Musuem will pay for <br />the needed signs. <br />Motion by Hartman, seconded by Wright to approve the request. On roll <br />call vote Frauen, Hartman, Leslie, Quandt, Wright and Landis voted yes, .none <br />voted no,with Abernethy absent. Motion carried. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #- /3? ;7 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Henry Fonda was born in Grand Island, Nebraska, on May 16, <br />1905; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Mr. Fonda never forgot his roots and gave freely of his time to <br />promote the State of Nebraska; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Mr. Fonda's birthplace is preserved at the Stuhr Museum of <br />the Prairie Pioneer in Grand Island and is visited by eighty thousand persons <br />annually; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Mr. Fonda is remembered with great pride by the citizens of <br />Grand Island, Hall County, and the State of Nebraska as a world-renowned actor <br />of stage and screen. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by The Hall County Board of <br />Supervisors that a request be submitted to the State Highway Commission that: <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />The State of Nebraska designate the 5.6 miles of U.S. Highway 34 <br />between the Hamilton County Bridge and U.S. Highway 281 as <br />"Henry Fonda Memorial Highway" in recognition of the respect and <br />admiration for Mr. Fonda's outstanding accomplishments and for <br />the exemplary manner in which Mr. Fonda promoted his native <br />state. <br /> <br />Governor Benjamin Nelson be requested to proclaim Saturday <br />August 15, 1992, as Henry Fonda Day in Nebraska.
