12. JERRY WATSON DISCUSSION ON PART TIME POSITION — Sheriff Jerry Watson stated
that at the last meeting discussion was held regarding the changes for the definition of part time
employees according to the affordable care act. The county recently received information that
that change would not affect our employees until July of 2015 because our health insurance
plan years does not renew until then. Mr. Watson stated that he has an employee that works 35
hours a week. It is difficult to use 2 part time positions for this job because this person waits on
the public and has a multitude of tasks. He also has a full time positon that will be leaving. This
was originally a full time position but he was asked to reduce the hours. He is requesting to
make this this is a full time position.
Mr. Arnold stated that this is the same rational as the corrections department and for continuity it
is better to make it a full time positon. This has been brought forward because of the affordable
care act. Mr. Watson stated that it would be an additional $1,500.00 in pay.
Quandt made a motion and Ziola seconded to approve the full time position at 40 hours.
Arnold, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and none voted no.
Lancaster was absent.
7.10:15 A.M.
