9:05 a.m. held a Board of Equalization meeting <br /> 9:15 a.m. returned to the regular meeting <br /> PUBLIC PARTICIPATION — Chairman McFarland called for public participation and no one <br /> responded. <br /> 4. COUNTY ATTORNEY EXECUTIVE SESSION REGARDING REAL ESTATE ACQUISITION <br /> Lancaster made a motion and Arnold seconded to go into executive session regarding real <br /> estate acquisition. Chairman McFarland stated that there are 2 reasons for an executive <br /> session to prevent needless harm or injury to an individual or to protect the public interest; this <br /> is to protect the public interest. Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and <br /> Ziola all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 9:15 a.m. executive session <br /> 9:30 a.m. Quandt made a motion and Arnold seconded to go out of executive session. <br /> Chairman McFarland stated that no other subject was discussed no votes were taken and no <br /> action was taken. Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted <br /> yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 5. 9:30 A.M. BID OPENING REROOFING OF COUNTY OFFICE BUILDING AT 117 EAST <br /> FIRST STREET— Mr. Humphrey stated that this roof is over 20 years old and has a rubberized <br /> membrane similar to the Courthouse annex. The following bids were received: <br /> BIDDER TOTAL BID BID BOND <br /> Duff Roofing $65,500.00 Cashier's check enclosed <br /> Grand Island No Options <br /> Weathercraft Company $75,142.00 Bid Bond enclosed <br /> Grand Island <br /> Option #1 $77,742.00 <br /> Option #2 $79,472.00 <br /> Quandt made a motion and Arnold seconded to accept the bids and refer the bids to the <br /> facilities committee and come back with a recommendation today. Arnold, Lancaster, <br /> McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and none voted no. Motion <br /> carried. <br /> Mr. McFarland stated that he will be leaving the meeting at 11:00 a.m. today and the Vice <br /> chairman will take over the meeting at that time. <br /> B) DISCUSS &APPROVE PURCHASE AGREEMENT FOR REAL ESTATE LOCATED AT 207 <br /> NORTH PINE STREET, GRAND ISLAND NE &AUTHORIZE CHAIRMAN TO SIGN THAT <br /> AGREEMENT—Chief Deputy Jack Zitterkopf stated that he entered into discussion to purchase <br /> 207 North Pine and they reached an agreement to sell the property for $825,000.00. He <br /> provided duplicate copies of the agreement reflecting the sale price. There is one tenant that <br /> would be given notice to vacate by December 1 and there are other long term leases that would <br /> be assigned to the county. The agreement reflects a closing date of November 21, 2014. He is <br /> requesting the board to approve this real estate agreement and authorize the chair to sign. <br /> 3 <br />
