Held a Board of Equalization meeting. <br /> 9:23 a.m. returned to the regular meeting <br /> PUBLIC PARTICIPATION —Chairman McFarland called for public participation and no one <br /> responded. <br /> COUNTY ATTORNEY—No items listed <br /> 7. PRESENTATION REGARDING THE GRANDER VISION PLAN — Mayor Jay Vavricek and <br /> Mary Lou Brown were present and reported that they have been visiting with the rural <br /> communities and were in Doniphan last night. Mayor Vavricek stated the relationship of the <br /> county and the city is the best it has been. He encouraged the public to visit the web site and <br /> wants to include as many people as they can. It is good to meet with the rural towns and <br /> villages and they have committed to work together on this project. <br /> Mary Lou Brown gave a power point presentation and encouraged everyone to fill out the <br /> survey and access the web site grander-vision.com. It is a short 21 question survey. They will <br /> have an open house August 6th <br /> 5.10:00 A.M. INTERVIEW CANDIDATE FOR HALL COUNTY WEED BOARD VACANCY— <br /> Michael Hutchinson submitted a resume for the weed board vacancy. He stated he was <br /> interested in politics and called Steve and Gary about the opening on the weed board. He <br /> stated he was raised on a farm and the board asked if he would run again when the 4 year term <br /> ended and he stated he would. He asked about the meetings and was told they meet once a <br /> month, Rob Schultz is the superintendent and they do inspections but do not do a lot of <br /> spraying. <br /> 6. DISCUSS AND APPROVE APPOINTMENT TO HALL COUNTY WEED BOARD —Schuppan <br /> made a motion and Arnold seconded to approve the appointment of Michael Hutchinson to the <br /> Hall County weed Board. Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all <br /> voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> Stacey stated she will forward the appointment to Dale Baker and make arrangements to have <br /> him sworn in. <br /> 9. DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING FEDERAL BUILDING —Mr. Quandt <br /> put this on the agenda for the discussion regarding the federal building he stated he would like <br /> to see the county board draft a letter to the federal government regarding our interest. Mr. <br /> Schuppan also agreed to express the county's interest in the building. <br /> Lancaster noted when this was discussed 2 weeks ago it was discussed to have 3 supervisors <br /> go at a time. She has been through the building and noted that there is a partial court room. If <br /> the building were acquired through the preservation act that court room hall way and lobby and <br /> exterior would have to stay the same. She agreed the board should look at it and express <br /> interest. The building is in good condition. <br /> Mr. Arnold expressed concern at the last meeting about acquiring another old building and also <br /> stated it would be important to look at the parking options. <br /> Mr. Purdy noted that he would like to look at it and get started because the process could take <br /> 3 <br />
