16. DISCUSS AND APPROVE APPOINTMENT TO VETERANS SERVICE COMMITTEE — <br /> Michael Ponte submitted a letter listing Wayne French, Michael Ponte and Robert Real for <br /> consideration as a member of the Veterans Service Committee. <br /> Quandt made a motion and Purdy seconded to appoint Wayne French as a member of the <br /> Veterans Service Committee. Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and <br /> Ziola all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 15. DISCUSSION REGARDING COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENT TO UNION NEGOTIATIONS <br /> AND HEALTH INSURANCE COMMITTEE— Mr. McFarland stated that he and Mr. Ziola are on <br /> the union negations committee and the health insurance committee and they are leaving in <br /> December and he felt that it would be more appropriate to have current members serve on <br /> those committees. He stated that next month he will have to go off of the health insurance <br /> committee because of a new law that states that a majority of the board constitutes a quorum. <br /> Y <br /> Mr. McFarland stated he did not get any volunteers so he would like to appoint Mr. Quandt and <br /> Mr. Arnold. Discussion was held regarding the union negotiations. <br /> Mr. Quandt stated that he is elected until the fist of the year and questioned why he was not <br /> serving on certain committees. Mr. McFarland stated that these 2 committees will affect the <br /> future and it was his decision not to serve on them. <br /> Mr. Arnold stated that the discussions from these committees have not started yet and it is a <br /> good time to make the changes. <br /> 7.10:15 A.M. — PUBLIC HEARING — RENEWAL OF CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR <br /> VERIZON WIRELESS — Lancaster made a motion and Arnold seconded to open the public <br /> hearing. Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and <br /> none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> Mr. Humphrey stated that this is a renewal for an existing tower. There was a representative <br /> from Verizon present if anyone had questions. There have been no concerns on this conditional <br /> use p ermit. The area is well maintained. <br /> Mr. Schuppan stated that there have not been any problems and the committee recommended <br /> approving the permit. <br /> Chairman McFarland called for public participation and no one responded. This is a renewal <br /> and will be for 5 years. <br /> Ziola made a motion and Lancaster seconded to close the public hearing. Arnold, Lancaster, <br /> McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and none voted no. Motion <br /> carried. <br /> 7A. CONSIDERATION AND APPROVAL OF A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT RESOLUTION <br /> FOR VERIZON WIRELESS, NE AND THELEN BROTHERS OF WOOD RIVER, NEBRASKA— <br /> Schuppan made a motion and Purdy seconded to approve the conditional use permit and <br /> Resolution #14-030 Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all <br /> voted yes and none voted no.
