Mr. Butler stated that they purchased 2 vans and will pick them up tomorrow to use for the rural <br /> areas. They will be more affordable and the vans will require less maintenance. <br /> Mr. Schuppan questioned if the city has addressed the federal dollars and if they will take over <br /> the city program. <br /> Ms. Lancaster stated that the county is still administering the program but the county is <br /> reimbursed 100% by the city. She stated that this allows us to improve our program and <br /> enhances transportation in general. These are 503 federal dollars that are available. She is not <br /> sure how the city is going to handle their program they may have to go out for bids. Ms. <br /> Engelhardt stated that if they take over the program it would be a 50/50 match but if they go out <br /> for bids it would be 80/20 match. Since they could be a potential bidder they have been left out <br /> of the meetings. Lancaster stated that this is not costing Hall County it is enhancing our <br /> program and we will be better equiped to handle the rural areas. <br /> Lancaster stated that the city has hired someone to take over and they are fully aware that it is <br /> their responsibility we are operating on their dollars but that has some definite benefits for the <br /> county. The count offers the busses and the cab service. Ms. Engelhardt stated that they sold <br /> 15,000 cab tickets last year. <br /> Lancaster made a motion and Purdy seconded to close the public hearing. Arnold, Lancaster, <br /> McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and none voted no. Motion <br /> carried. <br /> Lancaster made a motion and Ziola seconded to approve the application for financial assistance <br /> from the Federal Transit Administration. Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, <br /> Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 7.10:15 A.M. PUBLIC HEARING TO APPLY FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FROM THE FTA <br /> PROJECT NO. RPT-C409 (0419) FOR THE ACQUISITION OF TWO PUBLIC <br /> TRANSPORTATION BUSES TO BE OPERATED BY SENIOR CITIZENS INDUSTRIES <br /> Lancaster made a motion and Ziola seconded to open the public hearing. Arnold, Lancaster, <br /> McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and none voted no. Motion <br /> carried. <br /> Dustin Butler and Theresa Engelhardt were present. This public hearing is for the purchase of 2 <br /> buses. In the past they have purchased a bus and two vans. Ms Engelhardt stated they are <br /> anxious to see how the vans will work. They will also have a wheel chair ramp. They requested <br /> $22,000.00 for the purchase of the buses. <br /> Chairman McFarland called for public participation and no one responded. <br /> Lancaster made a motion and Ziola seconded to close the public hearing. Arnold, Lancaster, <br /> McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and none voted no. Motion <br /> carried. <br /> 7b) AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN VEHICLE & EQUIPMENT APPLICATION FOR FTA <br /> FUNDING FOR 2 BUSES - Lancaster made a motion and Ziola seconded to authorize the <br /> Chair to sign the application for financial assistance from the FTA for Project#RPT C409(0419) <br /> for 2 buses. Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes <br /> and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 5 <br />
