9:08 a.m. Held a Board of Equalization meeting. <br /> 9:12 a.m. Returned to regular session. <br /> 7. DISCUSS AND APPROVE PROCLAMATION DECLARING APRIL 2014 MONTH OF THE <br /> MILITARY CHILD - Chairman McFarland read Resolution #14-012. Present was a <br /> representative from the National Guard and Mrs. Wilke and her children. <br /> Lancaster made a motion and Arnold seconded to approve Resolution #14-012. <br /> Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and none <br /> voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 8. DISCUSS AND APPROVE PROCLAMATION DECLARING APRIL AS CHILD ABUSE <br /> PREVENTION MONTH — Mr. Ziola read Resolution #14-013 declaring April as Child Abuse <br /> Prevention Month. <br /> Ziola made a motion and Schuppan seconded to approve Resolution #14-013. Arnold, <br /> Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes and none voted no. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> Diana Meyer with Child Advocacy was present and presented the pinwheels to the board <br /> members. They have set up the gardens in various places in the community and also sold <br /> "Daisy's for Diana "they also provide free parenting classes so any one can attend. <br /> 10. DISCUSS AND APPROVE RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE GRANDER VISION OF THE <br /> CITY OF GRAND ISLAND AND THE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY OF THE EDC, <br /> CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND THE CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU - Lancaster <br /> distributed information to the board members and asked Mayor Vavricek to address the board. <br /> He stated that this is a city and county effort and they are asking for support from the <br /> community. In 1998 they had a vision that addressed 15 different areas and it is time to move <br /> forward again and look at what will serve all of Hall County. They will also ask the City Council <br /> to approve this resolution. Lancaster noted that NACO has provided information regarding <br /> counties that have addressed recession issue and if they have a plan and a vision that makes <br /> them successful. <br /> Lancaster made a motion and Ziola seconded to approve Resolution #14-014 support the <br /> grander vision. Arnold, Lancaster, McFarland, Purdy, Quandt, Schuppan and Ziola all voted yes <br /> and none voted no. Motion carried. <br /> 3 <br />
