Approved unanimous to meet with Dale Johnson, to work on new contract. <br />Next meeting will be Thursday, February 6, 1992. reported lawsuit' is still <br />in tact. <br /> <br />Peter Daiker, representative for National Association of Counties Deferred <br />Compensation Plan made report to Board members. He was also available for <br />-questions with County employees. Hall County has had the program available <br />to employees since 1982. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS: <br />Frauen reported the Veterans Service Officer evaluation has been completed. <br /> <br />Abernethy reported on Task Force Meeting she attended Saturday, February 1, <br />1992. Quandt also attended this meeting. <br /> <br />Leslie reported on Soil Conservation meeting he attended at Doniphan. <br /> <br />Quandt reported on Midland Area Agency on Aging meeting he attended. Also had <br />written materials for board members review if they wished to look at it. <br /> <br />Wright reported Weed Control Superintendent evaluation has been completed. <br /> <br />County Board Assisstant Ellen Merrill reported on several items of reminders <br />for Board members. <br /> <br />Chairman recessed the meeting at 11:55 A.M. and will return to session at <br />2:00 P.M. since the Board Members are to meet with Deputy County Attorney <br />and Industrial Hygienist at 2:30 P.M. <br /> <br />Returned to session at 2:00 P.M. with all County Board members present except <br />Frauen who had been excused. <br /> <br />Jean Fisher, Register of Deeds reported on LBl192 to alert the Board members of <br />the proposal to reduce documentary stamp-tax funds from 1/3 of $1.50 to 1/4 <br />and increase fees to $1.75 per 1000 dollars, state to get $1.05, county 44 cents <br />and 26 cents to go for Homeless Shelter Assistance Act fund. She requested <br />the Board members to write to Senator Lindsay, (introducer of the bill) opposing <br />the bill since Hall County will lose approximately $10,000.00 a year. <br />Lengthy discussion followed. <br /> <br />Motion by Leslie, seconded by Hartman to write letter to the Committee sponsor- <br />ing the bill, stating we are concerned with split of money with increase of <br />doc stamp fee, with increase to state and decrease to counties. On roll call <br />vote Abernethy, Hartman, Leslie, Quandt, Wright and Landis voted yes, none <br />voted no, with Frauen absent. Motion carried. <br /> <br />County Clerk reported the Children Vi~lage checking and savings accounts have <br />been closed as recommended in County Audit. County Clerk has the checks and <br />now Board members need to decide where donation account funds should go. <br />Some Board members requested a week to think about. Item to be on next week's <br />agenda. <br /> <br />Abernethy reported on her visit to offices in courthouse and County Court <br />offices. <br /> <br />Leslie reported he attended Senator Arlene Nelson's coffee on Saturday. <br /> <br />Discussion on telephone and fax line services and billing. <br /> <br />Hartman reported on the progress on Weed Control Authority building and the <br />Building & Grounds building. Will be an additional cost of $2200.00 for dirt <br />work on Building & Grounds building to take out and replace dirt. He stated <br />completion date for Weed Building has been set for February 28, 1992 and Build- <br />ing & Grounds building the middle of April. <br /> <br />Board Members waited for Deputy County Attorney and Industrial Hygienist to <br />arrive. Had not came yet at 3:30 p.m. <br /> <br />At 3:35 PM. Motion by Quandt, seconded by Hartman to adjourn the meeting. On <br />roll call vote Abernethy, Hartman, Quandt, Wright and Landis voted yes, Leslie <br />voted no, with Frauen absent. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Deputy County Attorney and Industrial Hygienist arrived just as Board members <br />were leaving. They returned to session, with Quandt rescinding his motion. <br /> <br />Board ~eeting returned to session at 3~37 P.M. Five news media representatives <br />were pr~sent during the discussion. Also present was Doris Mason, Hall County <br />Treasurer. <br />
