They are <br />.preparing to do. their budget and will need to come to the <br />County Board concerning monies for the budget. <br />Midland Area on Aging - spent. time on '95 budge't for. facilir.ies <br />of their Senior Centers, and the contract wi th ~e_DeckeI-rL <br />and the care project. They are looking at expanding it to <br />Hastings, Columbus and Grand Island Community Colleges. Plans <br />are being made to have a one day tour of the 14 Senior Centers <br />for the Board of Directors on the Midland Area of Aging Agency. <br />The idea of a quarterly visit from the County Board to each of <br />the Senior Centers was questioned. <br /> <br />Hartman - Mid-Nebraska Retardation meeting- the con~ract was <br />signed last night.with the state with more funds needed. <br /> <br />j: <br /> <br />Archit~ctMa~vin Webb appeared with ADA specifications for the court-house. <br />Ot~s Eievator' and O'Keefe Elevator recommended either to modify the <br />existing elevator to meet requirements or for a new elevator. The existing <br />elevator is 36 year old cable elevator and anew one would be a hydraulic <br />elevator. The present shaft would accommedate a new ADA elevator. To <br />r~~do the existing elevator for ADA requirements would cost $8,000 and <br />>tolreplace would be $40,000. Mr. Watson recommends in a letter to <br />'-Upgrade the quality of the elevator and to meet the ADA, that a new <br />elevator would be advisable. <br /> <br />Nelson Helm, Regional Planning, appeared to request a hearing date <br />be set for the rezoning of land from Michael & Barbara Binfield and <br />Mitchell & Janice Binfield. The hearing date was set for June 7th at <br />10:00 A.M. . <br /> <br />Ed Schmidt, appeared concerning the Wood River Flood project. He handed <br />out estimated costs for the control project along I-80, SW of Wood River. <br />This.cost would be shared by the State,NRD and Hall County. The county <br />cost would be $217,500 with the site preparation and excavation being <br />done by the County Road Department. Landis made motion, Frauen seconded <br />to proceed with the flood control project. Abernethy, Frauen, Hartman, <br />Landis, Quandt and Stelk voted yes, no one in attendence voted no. <br />ChU9k McCann with the state Road Department will bring agreement to <br />the board at a later date. <br /> <br />Izola Sargent and Lois 'stienik~;rt~ the Bandi-bus appeared concerning <br />the cab tickets. The 8,000 t~cKe~s for this fiscal year has been sold. <br />There is more demand for more tickets. The Department of Roads in <br />Lincoln, could have 1,000 more cab tickets for this fiscal year for <br />$625.00. Landis made motion, seconded by Stelk to purchase 1,000 <br />more tickets to. be paid out of the miscellaneous general fund. <br />Abernethy ,.Fr~ue.IJ.luJ!Clrtman, Landis, Quandt and Stelk voted yes, none <br />voted no. \Amendmen~J asking for more tickets. will be put into the <br />agreement for next year. A committee will be looking into the use of <br />vehicles for transportation of senior and'handicapped citizens. <br />Representatives from Mid Nebraska Retardation, Goodwill and <br />Vocational Services were in attendance and agreed that they would like <br />to meet concerning a more ef.fectill/e. use of vehicles in transportation <br />for these people. <br /> <br />Frauen made motion, seconded by Landis to postpone the agreement with <br />the state of Nebraska Department of Roads -proiectNQ. ~T-C40l(195). <br />Frauen, Hartman, Landis, Quandt r~Abern~t11y-cl.ndsfeik-v-oted'....y~;~..~v._~-,-_:J-r. <br />None voted no. ~ .. - - .--- -, <br /> <br />Recessed for Board of Equalization at 11:33 A.M. and returned to regular <br />session at 11:36 A.M. <br /> <br />Jerry Janulewicz, Deputy County Attorney, appeared concerning a <br />Building & Grounds committee meeting in regards to Social Services <br />building and the condition of their building. They would like for <br />it to be "spruc~d" up a little. In thinking of this, the building <br />was surveyed by Environmental Consulting Analytical for asbestos. <br />In the report, the ceiling tile was negative, the roof was also <br />negative. There waS no lead paint on the interior of the building. <br />
